I see this is a rebuilding year

and is not focused on our win loss record next year . From watching the our cuts and the draft I see GMAN as trying to put us in a financial/talent place in the future to build a team that can compete for the SB.

I was under the illusion in the off season that we would be trying to improve our winning record and path to the superbowl next year but it is clear that GMAN's is looking further in the future and realizes our best chance for a Superbowl run is in the future not next year. After much thought I agree with his approach. This draft proves that.

Is his approach right or wrong depends your expectations.......some want it right now and some want a sure thing later.

First thing we improved on was releasing our WR corp,  that was one of the worst units in the NFL.

Tackle,  we'll see what happens.   Guard has been upgraded just with the guys healing up and getting back on the field,  from IR.

Defense has been bolstered.

At some points last year.  didn't we have like 6 rookies playing at the same time on defense?  Still,  we had the #2 defense...  those rookies are a year older with more experience now.

Stewart may actually play in more than 2 or 3 games this season...  which will be a huge upgrade to our offense,  within itself.

Just a value based draft. Don't read into it too much

Well if you factor in our off season cuts it should be clear we want to be competitive but not expecting to win a SB next year

Not rebuilding year at all. We'll definitely (even with an injury or two --unless its Luke ) have a top 5 defense, possibly best. AND we have a franchise QB, 1st round WR, #2 WR in Cotch, #3 in Avant, Greg Olsen, 3 great RBs when healthy, finally a solid starter at RG. Regardless of tackle (which we could still get Hurst or Richardson as UDFA) we should have a formidable offense.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
