Gettleman on Boston "He sets a tone, he's a very physical player"

From what I've read he is a ball hawk but tends to let plays get behind him.  But the more you read the more you realize some of these are toss ups if you go by the "expert" analysis. One says he is a hard hitter, another says he needs to be more physical.

NFL.com: Uneven performer whose average athleticism, questionable physicality and immaturity will turn teams off.

CBSSports: Looks the part of an NFL safety with a chiseled physique and good overall athleticism. Highly physical defender who attacks the line of scrimmage in run support, demonstrating aggressive hands and impressive upper body strength.

If there's anything I'm trusting, it's a Ron Rivera defense.  They got guys with a good balance of athleticism, tenacity, and ballhawking ability.

They believe they are coachable so I'm going with it at least on the defensive side given how big of a turn around we've seen in the last 2 years.

Nothing intimates a WR like a hard hitting safety. I guess that's what Gman means by "setting the tone."

I'm excited to see what Boston can bring

I would rather have a safety that intimidates a Wr than being intimate with one, but I guess if the wr isn't paying attention, win-win.

So this is supposed to be getting abused is it. A pick for a TD and a fumble recovered. Yeah, that late play where he lets the guy by him is bad but sometimes I wonder what people expect from players. Do you expect the guys to be making every play in the game?

First off, he got burned three times.

Second, the interception was not due to his coverage skills; the ball was thrown right to him.

Third, he didn't recover the fumble (I was at the game).

Oh... and it was against a DI-AA (Rocco) and a DII QB (Simms).

    • i presented this in another thread. he throws better to the out breaking routes the wr run, but almost nothing to the inside. that is half the options on a wr route tree. How do you run an offense like that?  even the outbreaking routes he throws are moonballs, that allow the DBs to catch up unless the wr is wide open. he has to throw with a lot of anticipation becuase he doesnt have the arm strenght to get it there if he is a little late. thats probably why you see balls behind the wrs.
