Gettleman on Boston "He sets a tone, he's a very physical player"

I'm just excited cause I feel Rivera and wills can get the best out of any defensive players.

You give them a guy with some "reasons as to why they can make it", and it is not beyond them to make a really good football player.

I swear call be a tard but I feel we have the perfect combo of HC and GM.

We have a GM who has supposedly a good eye for talent, And a HC who at least defensively can get the most out of that talent. That's really exciting to me. Its not name driven, or a popularity contest. We get players in the building one way or another systematically, almost by formula to mold and build what we want to build.

Couldn't agree more. We have a GM who knows talent & a coach with a great track record getting the most out of his defensive players. To many fans cry before the coaches even get a chance the fix the problems which is a shame. I love the Boston pick was able to watch him a lot & definitely has the talent to be good to very good. I think he's better sever as a FS has good ball hawking ability

If that's true then this wasn't that good of a pick because giving up big plays over the top was one of our main problems.

Tre was no 4* or 5* recruit in any capacity.  And if you look at his career production its hard to see the "he never panned out".  There were many frustrating plays, but you have to evaluate the talent.  I believe DG sees things in Boston that as a fan whose watched him over the years can understand.

Since Quinn and Austin were dismissed Carolina struggled to find consistent play on the d line.  Boston was often chasing down long run plays in addition to trying to cover for extended periods due to lackluster and inconsistent pass rush.  When Lipford and Otis(both future NFL prospects) began to solidify themselves you saw more plays made all around.

Well you know what dude? I'm not even going to act like I follow college football enough to respond to your post. I would (and now I'm definitely going to since he's a Carolina Panther) have to do some homework on Boston before I could add my 2 cents to this conversation. All I can say now is, at the end of the day...I hope you're right.

The more games I watch on this kid, the more I like him. Best player other than Kareem Martin on the defense.

That's a stretch...

Norkeithus Otis was probably the second best defenive player on our defense and Tim Scott was easily the best secondary player on our defense.

Shawn Underwood and Travis Hughes were also decent as well.

3 head coaches I believe. Butch Davis, Withers, and Fedora.

WITHERS! Forgot him.  Seriously, if people are going to criticize him for getting beat deep, etc.  they need to look at all he has been through.  I think he is a gem and we are going to be elated that we drafted him in the near future.

So this is supposed to be getting abused is it. A pick for a TD and a fumble recovered. Yeah, that late play where he lets the guy by him is bad but sometimes I wonder what people expect from players. Do you expect the guys to be making every play in the game?

Carolina had one of the weakest pass rushes while running one of the most vanilla schemes in college football.  For any DB to make any plays in that defense is miraculous.  There are very few blitzes and hardly any confusing coverage.  Also they have had multiple coaches during Boston's tenure.  With good coaching and a better scheme, Boston could be a difference maker.

Duke has more ACC football relevancy than UNC.

And there ya have it, folks. My suspicions confirmed about your ignorant opinions on a football player you probably watched one time last season.

PS - your dookies haven't won a bowl game in 3 decades.

UNC ranked 39th in the nation in sacks.  That's in the top 3rd of NCAA defenses.  Overall, UNC had a weak defense, but the pass rush (Kareem Martin in particular) was probably the strength of that defense.

We haven't really seen the full 4-2-5 scheme implemented yet.  The staff is still trying to fit square pegs into round holes right now.  I'm curious to see what things will look like as Fedora recruited players are plugged in.  If it doesn't get a lot better, a shift in defensive philosophy might be necessary.  There's simply been too much individual defensive talent on the field for the overall defense to be so damn poor.

Not a Duke Fan either! Giving y'all insight on how a lot of outsiders view the UNC football program. Of course, UNC homers honestly believe otherwise. It's ok, to defend your team, just don't rival reality with such belligerence

    • Like a lot of things in today's economy, market concentration is a huge issue in the vet space. Mars (yeah, the chocolate company) owns roughly half of them with their control of Banfield and VCA as well as numerous smaller chains. Oh, and all that Royal Canon food the vets are prescribing and recommending? Yeah, that's owned by Mars too. Don't even get me started on the racket that is "prescription" dog food and how incredibly uneducated the average vet is on basic pet nutrition. Back to the actual clinics... private equity ghouls who care about literally nothing but profit own another 30%. Now you're down to roughly 20-25% of clinics that aren't under the thumb of Mars or private equity.
    • I just listened to Devil in the Desert.  😳
    • like any profession, a lot of them are very greedy and balloon up bills.  My buddy is a vet.   When he was first starting out he had BIG issues with the vet he was employed with because he was expected to drive up bills.    He now owns his own practice driven by that very reason.  Good man that wants to sleep good at night....doing what he set out to do at a young age (with the same reason in mind, to help animals and people).  But per him, a HUGE % of small animal vets are just gouging the f out of people.  like most things, I want the most mom and pop variety I can find.  The bigger practice, like most businesses, it more likely is owned and operated to make as much money as possible at the end of the day.
