Kelvin Benjamin Overweight?

The success or failure of a player ultimately falls on nobody else but themselves at the end of the day. These are grown men.

You or I were never on the practice fields or game fields with him or any other player to know what he did or did not do.

Honestly this scapegoating of Steve Smith for our ineptitude at developing a WR is pathetic.

I doubt KB is sitting around worrying about whether or not he has a "mentor".

Just basing this off of the few posts I've seen from you in this thread, but you seem like an idiot. So what you are saying is that everybody should have to do it themselves? That people wouldn't learn faster or better if they had a veteran showing them the ropes? I'm sure you've never had anyone show you anything.

Nobody here is blaming Smith for our ineptitude at developing a WR, but he certainly didn't help. He was a great player for us but didn't help develop the team around him, and yeah that's not his job, but if other people on other teams are doing it, doesn't that put us at a loss? Get your head out of your ass.

In what world do you live in where people do not have to "do it themselves" to further whatever career they are in? Considering you've basically said nothing other than calling me an idiot and telling me to get my head out of my ass, you've contributed nothing to this conversation. Thanks.

Many ordinary people in ordinary professions go through a learning period under a veteran employee to show them the ropes.

Ever heard of an apprentice?

What world are you living in?

In the NFL players have these knowledgeable individuals at their disposal called...wait for it...coaches.

haha yep exactly that.  Many may forget, throughout all of the escapades that he had here, he began to state that all he wanted was a legit number 1 WR opposite of him, so that he could move into a lesser role (to improve his role.)  Looking at many pictures and the way that he got along with Lafell I would have to differ from common perception.  Though Lafell was not great apparently Steve saw a drive in him that we did not know of, and petitioned for us to keep him.  You see Steve often "grooming" Cam, even at the end of the SF game.  I see no reason he wouldn't do it for a rookie that can make his job easier. Obviously not the best with emotion ever, but I think he'd have been a good WR for KB to have around, if only for performance reasons.

I think many here are doing the opposite of seeing through rose colored glasses.

Steve Smith also groomed Clausen quite a bit in 2010.

Sadly since we don't have Smith to teach him, KB is going to have to figure everything out for himself. The statements have started coming out by Proehl and Cotchery and Avant et al that they refuse to help him. Smith was his only shot.

Of course we have Proehl and other vets. No one here is discrediting what they could bring. However those players never reached Steve's level of greatness while in the league. The man won the TRIPLE CROWN....which if I'm correct only Jerry Rice has also achieved.
