Greg Hardy reportedly returns to Panthers' workouts

What does anything you have said in this thread have to do with Hardy's recent arrest and subsequent return to workouts?

1) Hardy's return to workouts has nothing to do with anything

2) There is no chance we release him until his tag is up after the season

3) There is a great chance he is done after that

Now answer the original question.

What "judgements" does his return to workouts prove wrong?

LOL at anybody who thinks the Panthers would just invest this much into Hardy with no plans to keep him. 13 million down the drain? Okay, some of yall said he would walk after the season was over with and he is still here...i guess you are just gonna ride this train as long as possible then. Good luck. You know better than the team does.

Go read the hardy arrest thread. People were saying he was done.

"done" after the season is different than "done" as in we void his contract or drop him before the season.

I don't recall anyone claiming the team would do the latter. I recall two people asking if we could void his contract based on the charges or the arrest and I responded to both. We can't.

But I sure as shit am not reading through several hundred posts to find a counterexample to disprove myself.

I can sum it up...

The suggestion has been that if - key on that word IF - the charges against him were found to have merit, it's possible the team could make some attempt to part ways with him this year.  The team's history (especially the Carruth saga) and general attitude about domestic violence makes this plausible.  The most likely vehicle for that would be a trade, one which would likely suck because teams would know the Panthers were over a barrel.

That said, given what we've seen so far, the likelihood of getting a reliable read on what actually happened seems only slightly greater than the possibility of lasting peace in the Middle East.  The more likely scenario is Hardy getting suspended a few games, fined a hefty sum (or both) and told to wise up / grow up and knock off the risky behavior.

Right now, who knows?

About the only thing that I think can reliably be said is that he'd probably better take the dollar signs out of his eyes.  Any hope Hardy had of a long term contract with a bunch of guaranteed money has gone bye bye, at least as far as the Panthers are concerned.  If the situation is resolved to their satisfaction, then they're more likely to offer a decent contract with little guaranteed and a lot of incentives and behavior clauses.  If that's not to his liking, he'll need to look elsewhere.

I'd add there's still a lot left unsettled.  Folks thinking this whole episode is now completely in the past and nothing else will come of it should probably think again.

Rivera is behind Greg.  That has a huge effect on my instincts regarding the situation.  The tag plus Rivera putting that comment out about Greg being a heck of a young man tells me this team wants him around.  Having him back at work out reaffirms that confident feeling, because it tells you that at least for now, the Panthers aren't taking any extremes.  They've obviously talked to Greg, he's back at workouts, and football focus has seemingly been renewed for him.

Obviously, if he is convicted, it would be hard to envision ever suiting up as a Panther again.  It would also depend a lot on the sentence.  Could face up to a year in jail, could just be fined and ordered to attend classes or programs.  If he's doing jail time he'll be looking to renew his career with who ever is willing to take the risk.  If he avoids jail time or the charges are dropped or he's even found not guilty than we'll have to see how the Panthers handle it.

Greg Hardy

Cam Newton

Luke Kuechly

Star Lotulelei

Kelvin Benjamin

Those are the best players from each of the last 5 drafts. They are also the core of this team & untouchable. Anyone else is expendable; Davis, Johnson, Kalil, Olsen, Williams, Stewart, etc. They're all replaceable, & watching how Dave operates I'd assume will be replaced sooner rather than later. The 5 guys listed above aren't going anywhere for the next 4-6 years. They are the pillars of this team.

Problem is we have less than two months to work out a long term deal and Hardy goes to court on June 27. I certainly don't think we will do a deal before his court date.

If by chance he is exonerated on the 27th then the we have a little over 2 weeks to finish a deal. If the trial gets pushed back or he has a new court date then it may be impossible and Hardy will be looking to be an UFA at the end of the season.

I think he wants to test the market anyway and I have no idea how the Panthers FO will view him even if he gets off.

Die meisten Schüler wissen nicht, wo sie anfangen sollen, wenn es um diese Innovation geht. Das ist leider ein Misserfolg. Wie wichtig ist das? Genau das ist es, was nicht zu Ihrer Mission gehört. Ich bin gespannt, was Amigos in diesem Zusammenhang vermuten.   FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/venisellereviews/ https://www.facebook.com/smartfocusglasses/ https://www.facebook.com/yummyslimreviews/ https://www.facebook.com/veeloboostercost/ https://www.facebook.com/motionenergygermany/ https://www.facebook.com/activestinreviews/ https://www.facebook.com/matchaslimpills/ https://www.facebook.com/magicoagermany/ Site Google: https://sites.google.com/view/activestinreviews/ https://sites.google.com/view/matcha-slim-pills/ https://sites.google.com/view/magicoareviews/ https://ketrionselee.company.site/
    • Am I reading this right? We've had awful QB play for over half a decade...and we'd pass on Dak because he has no "clutch gene" or can't get it done in the playoffs--something we haven't sniffed and have no reason to believe we will for years to come?!? Sorry, but this sounds like a starving man turning down a box of crackers because they're Great Value instead of Ritz. If a Great Value QB is available when you have none, there is no deliberation needed.
