I agree w/ the guy (last month) who stated that Hornets have "nest", not hives an honeycombs....although the purple or teal honeycombs look good on shirts and stuff

Well technically honeybees don't live in hives in nature either. Hives are exclusively man made structures that are designed to house bees.

 

The structures created in Hornets nests look virtually identical to honeycombs...they're simply not used for creating honey. Having honeycomb shapes on the floor is still accurate.
