#9 and #24 Enough To Move Into The Top 3?

Let's look at it like this.  If somehow we had the #3 pick in this upcoming draft and someone offered us the #9 and the #24 and Cho took the bait....would you be happy?

I think not.

In fact, this place would riot.

First off I believe we will stay where we are in the end. But I think we have a better chance of trading UP than down if we do end up moving. Here's why:

Last season, we won more games than the last two years combined and made the playoffs. We have an All-Star in Big Al (he IS an All-Star), a great young PG in Kemba and some very solid young talent in MKG and Zeller. Are they perfect? Definitely not. But they all have potential to be great. However, we don't have a go-to scorer that can hit from anywhere on the floor consistently. Mainly because they are hard to find.

Now take a look at Milwaukee: Right now their starting 5 consists of Brandon Knight, Ramon Sessions, Khris Middleton, Zaza Pachulia and Ersan Ilyasova. Behind that, there isn't much depth at all.

There's incentive to both sides here. On the one hand, stay at #2 and land a franchise player. This will most likely lead to another down year and another lottery pick next year and even then might struggle. But, if they were to trade down with us and get our #9, #24, #45 and a player or two like Gerald Henderson (a much needed veteran on that roster), they might be in a better position in a couple of years then taking their chances in the draft. If I were them, I'd probably stay. But who knows?

Just imagine:

Bucks agree to trade above. Cavs take Joel Embid #1, Hornets take Andrew Wiggins #2.

Charlotte Hornets 2014-2015 Starters

PG Kemba Walker

SG Andrew Wiggins

SF MKG

PF Zeller/McRoberts (resigning?)

C Big Al

If we could get into the top 3, I'd be down for giving up our picks and a couple of players. Starting at #4 it drops off and we could get a player just as good at #9.

Now I am wishfully thinking to an extent and I don't see this happening but hey, stranger things have happened.

Why do people think other teams will trade greatness for poo. A trade into the top 3 would require at least 9 and 24 this year, 2 future first rounders, MKG/Zeller, Neal and Taylor/Biyombo. And they'd only do that trade if they're really determined to trade back.

Parker or Wiggins is already 100x better than Hendo.

I don't think so, but 9+24+future 1st round pick would likely get us to 5 or 6.

I could see Boston moving back, so we could possibly leapfrog the Lakers to get Smart if we fell in love with him.

But I don't want to move up unless it is for a guy we feel REALLY good about.

I would rather stay pat myself, get BPA at 9, Early at 24, and Deandre Kane at 45. That would be my dream draft personally

Would both those picks be enough to move into the top 3 and land a stud?  Just seems logical to go get 1 guy that will have an impact and then grab someone in free agency.  Trying to bring along two mediocre players from #9 and #24 isnt really ideal when you are trying to get back to the playoffs.

I doubt that any of the teams up top would want to pass on a player like Wiggins, Parker, or Embiid.

A better question would be would you be willing to deal our two firsts and maybe a player like Hendo to move up into 4,5,6?

No. The only way I would want to trade up is to get to the top 3. If we can't, let's stay put or move back into the early teens.

Im all for the move up. Still think we lack a dominate scoring option. If you cant land one at 9 go get one. Mgk and zeller are role players... if someone doesn't laugh at you when you offer them package one of said players and 9 and 24. Try to get into the top 4.
