Comparison of Panthers WR Spending

Recommended Posts

This article form CBS Sports breaks down how much each team is spending on WR's this year. Guess who's dead last, paying only a third of the average NFL team cost for WR's...

This image shows the percentage of cap space devoted by each team to the position.

I feel pretty good about this. No way our guys finish that far below average in production.

We have been very smart about how we are managing our receivers.  In a few years we will be doing the same thing with running backs.  Unfortunately defensive end will always be a position where you just have to spend premium money unless you can find what you need in the draft.  I expect the situation with Hardy and Johnson to work itself out by next year.  Unfortunately many folks won't be happy when at least one of them won't be on the team next year.

I think it would be really interesting to see a statistical cap analysis of all positions for the best teams over the past 5 or so years.

I wonder if there is a correlation between positional spending and total wins. It'd be cool to see if there was a blueprint to determine what positions are the most valuable in terms of wins and losses and therefore deserve a bigger contract.
