Good quick read... Interesting cam had 17 coverage sacks and only 11 were the fault of his blockers... Wonder how many sacks he would have had due to blocking if he didn't scramble so well.

Love that cam scrambled for first downs 17 times out of 21 tries on third downs... That is just amazing stat.

Remember B.C. (Before Cam) when on 3rd down and long you just got I the feeling we were setting up for the punt? It's so nice now to know we got a guy back there that can make some magic 17 out of 21 times.

Newton is clearly a half-field reader. He also did not slide at all, though he managed to avoid any big hits. He gives himself up in the name of safety; his style is just to fall forward and essentially tackle himself.

 

 

Serious question-  I thought falling forward was not giving yourself up..             Sliding is essentially tackling oneself,  not falling foward trying to get more yards.

Falling forward has protected Cam more than anything.  It puts him in a semi-fetal position with his helmet and shoulder pads facing any contact.

 

Sliding?  That puts a QBs legs and chin facing contact.
