Five cities you recommend when foreigners to visit the U.S.

If you want to see gold mining, skiing in summer, cattle ranches, shale oilfields, historic trains, greatest beers in the world, and along with some of the coolest people ever (minus their football fans) come to Colorado. I've lived here three years and I'm still amazed by what I find.

ColoRADBro is awesome. gone to Winter Park the last 3 years for skiing and nothing beats the Rockies.

I need to go in the summer so I can get in some mountain biking

Cities?

New York

Seattle

Miami

There are many others that should make the list, but those three will give a good base. I would suggest a few cities from the central US since they tend to differ from coastal cities. Denver and St. Louis would be good places to start.

But "real American" life.... if you drive coast to coast (I recommend it) you will see nothing but farmland for two solid days.

Miami and Seattle?

If you wanted to screw with them:

Houston - Nice during the summer. Lot's of culture.

Detroit - You can walk over to the Casinos at night and feel safe. Winters are great

Hartford - Cultural center of New England

Camden NJ - The heart of the Garden State

St. Louis - Check out the Eastern part for some real flavor. Make sure your camera has lots of film!

Don't be scared like this puss.

That said, I once did a five-week road trip around the US. It was a blast. Started in Charlotte, went to DC, went to NYC, went to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side, went to Chicago, went to Badlands NP in South Dakota, went to Yellowstone NP in Wyoming, drove down the Oregon coast (most beautiful coast in America), went to San Francisco, went to LA, went to Las Vegas, went to Monument Valley at the Arizona/Utah border, went to Arches NP in Utah, went to Colorado's mountains, went to Great Sand Dunes NP in Colorado, went to White Sands NP in New Mexico, went to Austin, then caught a Braves game with my dad in Atlanta before returning to Charlotte. Best five-weeks I've ever had.

If you are looking for rude assholes like this fool, then New York has a corner on the market.  The city has a bunch of great places to go and things to do.  Too bad you couldn't move it somewhere else where people are decent to one another.

Actually I've found in my three years here that people are a LOT more helpful than they were in Charlotte.

8 pages and no one has mentioned Cleveland?!?!

On a serious note, you can't get a feel for America in just one visit the country is just too damn big and very diverse.

Personally I'd say screw cities and hit up the natural beauty. Go to White Sands New Mexico and hear the sound of pure silence or the Grand Cayon and know what it means to be an insignificant speck in the tide of history.

Cities are boring.

Looks like you fit right in.  Guess it takes one to appreciate another one.  Glad you found a place you enjoy. And folks down here appreciate you staying up there.  Win-Win....

Oh great, THIS again. Google lists multiple cities as best for beer. Depends on which article you choose to think it the more correct one. Portland and Asheville are two of the top. But it's not solely Asheville, no matter how bad Rum wants it to be true.

You're forgetting San Diego in that mention! (and that's not homer status, it's just such an amazing craft brew city, which is weird because we actually have tons of things to do here...)

    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
    • I parked in this lot a few times. It would take over and hour to get out of that lot after games. Never again
