7-29 Practice Thread

For Ealy critics--

CJ came into his own during his third year.

Hardy came into his own during his third year.

Ealy has not come into his own after his third practice.

Yes, Everette Brown was a bust.  He was a bad pick from the outset.  Don't compare the picks of a desperate ex-newspaper reporter to those of Dave Gettlemen.

And also what made the Brown pick even worse was that we traded up for it while Ealy was a good value pick

And i remember CJ doing next to nothing his rookie year, defensive end is a tough position to play as a rookie

We gave away a first rounder to move up in the second, if I remember correctly.   Hurney was desperate and decided a solid strategy was to mortgage next year to save his but at the time.  Unfortunately, his good picks were safe and probably lucky.    Otah, Brown, A. Edwards--he had a good run moving up in the draft.

Yeah I wish Otah was still here and producing like he was.

i thought he had 6 sacks in not much playing time. or was that his second season?

I don't remember Johnson playing at all until Mike Rucker got hurt just before the last game that season. I think you're thinking of his 2nd season.

    • I thought he was from watching him play and also doing his first HC job. I thought he was the real deal  Apparently what happened is Kraft committed to Mayo and I don’t remember the timeline exactly - but Vrabel was unemployed at the same time Belichick was unemployed. They both were fired (or out) after the 2023 season.  Kraft hired Mayo. Who was kind of an obvious disaster. He probably already had the deal in place but I will give Kraft credit for not sleeping. With Vrabel out there for 2025 he made the move he needed to make and if it hurt Mayo’s feelings then oh well.  I guess you can tell I am not fond of Kraft but that was a really savvy move. At his age, pretty good. Still has it.
    • It’s going to feel like a home game for the bills. There are so many of their fans that live down here now, and many of them have never seen Allen play in person since their last visit was 8 years ago. It didn’t matter for the cowboys game, but it might here. I think we likely lose a close one. Probably a questionable flag or two that doesn’t go our way. X factor for Buffalo will be Kincaid and Knox. If we do win it’s because we get ahead and play keep away from Allen. FYI- I have many friends who are Bills fans that are fed up with Beane who we all revere and think is the one that got away. They feel like he was great to land Josh but has done a terrible job of building around him (especially at WR) and rely on him to become super man to win- sounds kind of familiar, like the last time we had a franchise QB.
    • I always thought of him as an uptight military family dude, didn't know he needs to wash that mouth out with soap lol.
