The Maturation of Luke

Luke is a coaches/owner/gms dream of a player. I like the fact he's so quiet/reserve off field but a shiit talking speed demon manbeast between the white lines.

I can't remember one time he was on the field talking poo to an opponent...  dude really needs to step up his game.

Banshee War Cry after every big play

Waving to the Falcons full back to get off the field after TDs acrobatic pick.

Game in the rain against Saints. Head was constantly bobbing letting them know.

"That's one fugging catch" to Santonio Holmes against Jets going nuts after he got one catch on the secondary he said was trash.

That's just off the top of my head.

I hated the pick because we already had Beason and DT was the biggest weakness on the team.

Thank God I'm not a GM.

this. while i do realize OL is a huge need at the moment, it is for this reason that i am not worried about Gettleman. he knows he needs to improve the OL. and i have faith that he will soon. but to pass up talent that would (did) make us better is foolish. if we had taken an OT or two, we might have missed out on KB, Bene, Ealy, or Turner. we dont know about Boston yet, but he could be a gem too for all we know. those 4 picks (maybe 5 with Boston) made us a better team that we might not have been if we had picked up more OL talent instead.

He's well on the way to being the most popular Panther ever.

im not sure how i feel about this. my initial reaction is to say... "but what about Smitty and Superman and TD and even Gross" but at the same time, ive never heard a negative word spoken about Luke in Panther nation so... maybe youre right. it would be shocking to me though

Kuechly is basically the MLB version of what everybody said Andrew Luck was gonna be at QB coming into the NFL and the funny thing about it is that, at the time, I hated the pick because we already had Beason and DT was the biggest weakness on the team.

Yes, thank you Marty Hurney.

I already knew he was a good team leader, I want to see maturation in his pass defense. This is also an even more self serving piece than peters in that somebody with an axe to grind wrote so much about somebody else and end it to say, "THATs what should have been written". Then again, when you own a forum you can write what you want... I suppose the same way if you own ur own website.

I thought you were joshing with the King stuff before but your actually serious...?

In Jeremy's post where is there anything remotely self serving? It's a critique of an article based on what we all know was king's attempt at covering his own pride and being able to bury the hatchet with one of the sports hottest properties. While doing so he completely neglected an actual story which would have made much more football sense to report. Any one with any idea of what good journalism is should be able to see that.

King can't win, always getting in his own way.  One can only wonder how he would have come across trying to write up Luke.  Maybe he will release it later.

Then, one of you can go read it and re-post here because I am never clicking on his site...

Never.

    • The division is most certainly wide open. The Bucs are a problem but Baker Mayfield is and will remain his own worst enemy it's a matter of when not if he has a bad game or even a stretch of bad games. As far as the Panthers they have done an admirable job of trying to address needs as best they can without pulling a Scott Fitterer and getting desperate which has only made us worse off in the past. On the Bryce subject all anyone can really say at this point is we just have to wait and see. This is the year and despite what the Panthers may say publicly doubling down and going all in on WR is as good as any sign anyone should need that they expect Bryce Young to have a very productive and convincing season. The pieces are in place. They aren't perfect but nothing ever will be. Regardless there's honestly no excuse for this staff and this team not to be able to compete in this iteration of the NFC South. Also just want to say this because I can say the hyper defensive posts already being made in here and it's probably going to be a season with highs and lows again but hopefully more highs for sure. But just because there is dialogue about a position group or a player that challenges your preconceived notions or makes you uncomfortable does not make it "hate" or "anti" this player or that player. For some people who talk a lot about nuance you would think this wouldn't need to be stated but that's where we're at.
    • If I was a coach I would preach "Don't let the refs decide the game" because as soon as you let the NFL the chance to help their bottom dollar whether it be teams that make most money or gambling then they will screw the team that doesn't fit their bottom line......is it rigged? No but do they try and make certain narratives happen abso-freakin-lutley. As I stated in a previous thread NFL players are the ones that SHOULD have all guaranteed contracts but the boot lickers on this forum disagree and argue for the billionaires in this world who own these teams, sheep
    • I wont go quite so far as to say games are rigged.  You wouldnt have to work hard to convince me there was the occasional thumb on the scale but outright rigged? nah.   but collusion on the rest of the "business" of football, sure.  No one really believes that the only time the 32 owners act as one is during the negotiations of the CBA do they?
