Charlotte's WSOC TV bumping Bristol race in favor of Redskins game, Panthers not happy about it

I find it totally ridiculous that there is an issue with a sports team name that has been in existance for 82 years, but it's OK for a new TV show coming out (with promo after promo) and the name of the show is Black-ish.

How hypocritical this world has become.  :startle:

I know I just brought it up cause I hate the team

Well, if they are broadcasting the race on the HD feed, that's cool.

When I was still living in NY, they local station that was broadcasting the race cut it short for some sitcom or something.

They got a poo ton of phone calls, emails, and letter complaining about it. they never did that again. LOL

and that's NY State! (in the capital region, not out in the middle of east bumble frick)

Apparently few people here are over the age of 30 who actually remember not having a choice but to watch the Redskins each Sunday.  I would imagine there are still a lot of Redskins in the area.  So it isn't surprising to see WSOC pickup a Redskins game.  That said, I can see how this would piss off the Panthers.  However, since WSOC doesn't have preseason or regular season rights to Panthers games, they probably have nothing to lose.

Yes because everything we were doing 82 years ago is totally fine today....

So with this logic for instance if there was a semi pro soccer match happening and it would draw 10,000 viewers but a Steelers game would draw 100,000 viewers then the broadcasters shouldnt show it because of loyalty to the home team the Panthers - even though the Panthers arent playing at the same time.   In other words youre telling a broadcast station they dont have the right to make as much money as possible.  I would like to know how many of you would sacrifice a portion of your salary under the same sort of scenario.

Actually you are reading into this way too much. What I am saying boils down to this:

fug the Redskins. fug Redskin fans. It's passed time for this region to be dominated by the Panthers. fug Redskin fans. fug the Redskins. Who gives a flying fug if they played Redskin games here 20 years ago.

Matt Ryan wears braided belts.

Don't think it's possible for me to agree more.

They did that here probably 15 years ago. Cut the end of Daytona Sprint Unlimited race (whatever it was called back then)

    • Superbowl chances are pretty low, near the bottom of the league. They do state upfront that offense is more consistent year over year, and is more impactful in this model. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/48845972/2026-nfl-season-football-power-index-projections-super-bowl-chances-simulations
    • Feel like it had to be about J-Rod. Maybe just my own opinion/wants, but I think he's the target in the 2nd and the editing makes it look like Hunter was our guy all along there.  Either way, after watching I can't help but feel "better" about the FO, albeit I don't want Tilis to ever leave for a better gig. Tepper has his influence with the analytics and numbers guys more than anything IMO, which could at least prevent some crazy trade ups or panic moves. Editing, sure, but this seemed like a 100% Dan Morgan draft. He got his guys, now let's see if he's right.
    • This was awesome. I want to know who they were reacting to coming off the board in the 2nd round. They seemed to really want somebody. Maybe Rodriguez or Kayden McDonald?
