Coming up on SC: Cam Newtwon Out of Sync

Yep, just recently had elbow surgery for tennis elbow.

Doc and therapists haven't told me "you are 100% but you still can't go back out there and play tennis or bowl". They have told me that I am not yet at 100% (almost 3 months later) and that I can NOT do those things yet.

100% is 100%. To me (and my medical support at least), 100% means ready to go.

Tennis isn't a sport.

(I'm joking...?)

they are saying this because they want it to happen so all of their analysts can be right about....chemistry, cam's ankle, oline, ect.

stop watching them and lets see what happens with real game action. i'm honestly not concerned in the least bit until i see that first game.

What is this "Sop Hop I Top"? Without his capacity to threaten the defense with his rushing prowess, Cam is not at full capacity. Is that so hard to see? Cam is by no means perfect, but he is perfectly the quarterback with the highest ceiling to EEEEVER play for this organization. He is making progress every year and relentlessly breaking NFL records along the way. Some people defend Cam because they respect him both as a giving and compassionate person off the field and as a fine young athlete on the field. Some people who defend him know that he doesn't belong to a gang and that anyone who lived in Cam's "hood" and defended Cam's hood would live in multimillion dollar condos in downtown Charlotte. Are some of you mad about that? Cam's "hood" is where most of you po' azz plucka-pluckas would not be allowed. People of Cam's ilk are protected by the police. In fact if some of you were to show up acting ignorant and talking smack (the way you do on this board )you would swear that the police ARE his "gang" Lastly I'll bet that Tom Brady has defenders too but I doubt they would even make analogies about defending hoods in relation to him. Hence I am convinced that an underlying cause in using such analogies is some people's inability to view Cam without race colored glasses. Your parents should have done a better job. Peace

You completely missed the point. Wait until they tell you YOUR ELBOW is 100%, then go out there and play and tell me youre not the least bit sore.

it's just a headline, no reason to even discuss.

Newton shouldn't be shielded from criticism because he isn't playing well no matter which way you slice it. It is the preseason, we just have to wait until week 1 to see what the real deal is.

But u should be able to smell bs from afar.

And since when has Cam ever been shielded from criticism? It seems any mistake or bad throw have some making all sorts of speculation about Cam's future as a QB. Ridiculous. The poor guy can't have a bad day or it's career as a player is over. Talk about being he'll bent on pushing a player out of a job.

Cam completed 66% of his passes against NE

Cam got into a nice rhythm against KC after the first couple

Biggest issue is we are running a handicapped O. Which impacts converting 3rd downs. In a real game IMO Cam would have converted some of those plays with his legs.....which would have resulted in a more consistant O.

    • So the last guy who had the job got hired by his former team directly into a role he has no direct experience in?
    • Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.
    • Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
