Is Darin Ganatt just a Twitter Troll?

Love Darin and his opinions, though unpopular, are almost always more in line with reality than the fluff stuff you get from most people revolving around the Panthers. He's a realist. And I understand that's not a popular position to take when you're dealing with rabid fans who think that a guy like Bersin should be given a shot at WR2 or that our offensive line is fine despite there being nothing of consequence to prove it. I support his criticisms of the NFL and society on the whole and I'm glad he has the platform now outside of the bible belt to really dig into those without fear of retribution.

Keep up the good work, Darin. One of the few writers of this age I still have a great deal of respect for. In a league full of Joe Person I will take Darin 10 out of 10 times. God forbid someone have an opinion that doesn't fall in the organizational think tank.

Haven't really read anyone saying his opinions are off base. It's his delivery and general tone. Maybe that's why he irks me so much; I respect anyone willing to take their own path, but keep your holier-than-thou to yourself.

yea darin was such a realist when he was calling the delhomme extension the right move to make

Being a realist doesn't mean you're never wrong. We can go into the way back machine and try to make sense of any move the Panthers made as being the right option for them at the time. It's just that with our limited options available, keeping Jake looked like our best option. That's realism. Even if you miss the boat. It beats the hell out of suggesting something unreasonable like going out and trading for Aaron Rodgers or some impossible scenario.

The risk of being a professional journalist is that your opinions of the time are public record. Some people avoid that risk by never having an opinion and thus never being wrong. But I like to read about the ways people approach the situation and the process. Has Person ever predicted anything to happen? It's the coward's way out of committing to a topic.

Don't forget annual fluff piece on Armanti.

Or basically saying both Panthers and Hornets would suck before their respective seasons last year

I am actually amazed at how often "realists" are so fugging wrong all the time

    • Uggh forgot about that
    • I am curious to see if Warren is the elite player that the Huddle Warren stans believe. I am always fairly wary of these first round TE's.
    • The Rossi things isn't going away, either... https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/3312416/unfinished-business-7-players-to-watch-in-back-half-of-nhl-offseason The Wild and Rossi shouldn't be having any trouble hammering out an extension. Rossi, an RFA turning 24 in September, recorded the second-most points on the team last season (60 in 82 games). The smart, skilled, highly competitive 5-foot-9 Austrian is a homegrown top-six center. Minnesota has $10 million in cap space and no other significant spots to fill to finalize its 2025-26 roster. Problems lurk below the surface, however. Coach John Hynes demoted Rossi to the fourth line in the playoffs, dropping his nightly usage from 18 minutes in the regular season to 11 in the first-round series loss to Vegas. GM Bill Guerin's top to-do list item at the moment is to lock up Kirill Kaprizov. The superstar winger, who's been eligible for an extension since July 1, is due for Leon Draisaitl-type money (around $14 million average annual value) starting in 2026-27. Guerin has said there's no rush to sign, trade, or match an offer sheet for Rossi. If he stays, a short-term extension makes sense, since it gives both player and team flexibility. If he leaves, a trade is far more likely than an offer sheet. Half of the league could use a second-line center, and Rossi still has upside. The Hurricanes desperately need to upgrade at 2C (Jesperi Kotkaniemi isn't going to cut it) and have plenty of cap space. Ditto for the Sabres, who picked Jack Quinn one spot before Rossi went to the Wild in the 2020 draft. Mammoth bench boss Andre Tourigny coached Rossi in junior, and they don't have as much wiggle room, but trading top-six winger Nick Schmaltz (plus a pick) could make the math work. Guerin wants to make a so-called "hockey trade" here.
