So I was all set to get a PS4...

Xbox one is going to re-add the ability to plug in USB hard drives to expand disk space AND streaming movies from those devices....if you happen to have a large collection of mp4s.  MKV files might take a little longer.  Had that functionality with x360 and people were very unhappy...me being one.  I don't want to be forced to run that clodgy media center on a desktop.

But then I got an e-mail from GameStop. Tons of great deals.

Microsoft is obviously getting desperate after their PR greed debacle last year, and that truthfully was the reason I was going PS4.

I'm about to make the jump to next gen and now I'm at a standstill.

Anybody who has both able to convince me one way or the other?

Ftr-some of the deals offered for the X1 are the Madden bundle, the Call of Duty Advanced Warfare bundle with the 1TB hard drive, or a free game with any purchase of any X1 console.

Honestly, for me, it came down to exclusives. I know that I can play Xbone games on PC (things like Titanfall, etc) and then there are games like Call of Duty and Battlefield which I can play play on both systems, so I don't take those into consideration. The Playstation exclusives, however, aren't games that I can play on PC (things like Last of Us, etc). So that's what made my decision to go with PS4.

Also, when I bought the system day one, the price was $100 cheaper than the Xbone, which was also a nice incentive. lol.

Ok, this settles it. I'm not buying any new generation gaming console anytime soon. Paying a fee to play online is fuging stupid. You already bought the console and the game. Your ISP already charges you monthly for the internet, now PS4 and XB1 want to pile on top of that? I've been a playstation gamer ever since the first consoles came out. But I will not buy anymore as long as this is how it is. PS3 may be my last gaming console ever.

Nintendo it is then! Seriously online is free unless you want to download a game or buy dlc. Nintendo does dlc right, unlike some.

I think sonys thought process was that most people would be getting playstation plus anway since they get free games and discounts, so they figured might as well force you to get it to play online. Everything is a money racket these days. I miss the days you had beat the game or imput a cheat code to unlock a character. Now that character costs you money if you want him. Also awful if you consider the fact, said characters data, is already on the disk. You have to just unlock it first. Lame attempt at a cash grab. They don't have faith that their game is great to make money, so they have to do that. Oh yeah thats right a year later when noone is online to play game, there will be a ultimate addition that features that and other characters with the game for free. So the 60 dollar customer feels cheated again.

If you are a gamer then get the PS4. If you want to impress somebody by having a conversation with a machine get an Xbox.

I'm in the market for a new system. I loved my 360. Don't really turn it on much now. I'm gonna wait till maybe the holidays to get a new system when there's some good deals and I have a little extra money. Maybe my GF will buy me one for Christmas/bday.

I'm a microsoft lean - but would could be swayed to the Ps4.

Not sure one is truly superior to the other, as I don't own or have played either system, but from a purely tech spec breakdown, PS4 has much better hardware:

Personally, the only game that has me semi-excited is Destiny. If it's released on PC, I won't even bother with a console.
