Answering a Few Questions

Jeremy Igo

Recommended Posts

So I have had a few questions come up from lots of different directions, my fault for not having better communication. This has probably been the busiest few months of my life. Not a bad thing.

I thought maybe I would try to answer them all here.

1) Whats the deal with the Amazon link? How does it work?

We have setup an affiliate partnership with Amazon. If you click our links to Amazon (located at the top of the page or in my sig) and then proceed to make purchases, the Huddle gets to wet its beak a little at no cost to you. Depending on the merchandise, Amazon pays us 4-6% as a thank you for reminding people to shop there. This only works if you first click the Amazon link on the huddle.

I do see a list of purchases made, but I do not get info on who made the purchase or any other information on the customer whatsoever. Although, when I see an industrial sized box of bulk toilet paper on the list..... I can figure it out. So if you enjoy this place and shop at amazon, why not throw us a few sheckles by clicking through the link.

2) Whats the deal on the All-Pro mumbo jumbo

All-Pro is a subscription to the Huddle that can be found in the Huddle Store. It is for those Huddlers that want to go above and beyond the call of huddle duty. It gives you access to additional information, photos, sound clips, etc. There are additional benefits you can read about in the store. The cost is about the same as buying me a good beer a month. We are closing in on 100 subscribers that I am very thankful for.

3) Whats the deal with the podcast and why should I care?

A podcast is on-demand audio that is independently produced and unregulated. You access it through your smart phone via an podcast app or though the webpage. Podcasting is the future of audio entertainment. It breaks down the barriers to entry that radio has always had. It is to radio what the internet has been to newspapers.

The Huddle Podcast is now getting over 2000 listens per episode, making it by far the most popular Panthers related podcast out there. If you use an iphone, it is easiest to just subscribe via iTunes. Android has tons of great podcast apps, we recommend PocketCast

4) So why all this new stuff?

Mainly because I have lofty long term goals for this place, including hiring some help. I have stepped up the content to include locker room interviews and increased camp/practice coverage. Also, I will be covering all of the away games this season. This all comes at a cost financially and personally. I actually had an offer from a large media company to be bought out during the offseason at a pretty nice price tag. I turned it down. I see so much potential in this joint and want to see it through.

I know a few of you see this place as "just a message board" and scoff at the idea that it isn't anything more. Thats fine, and I still appreciate your involvement here. Many of you see this joint as something more, and I agree. Hopefully we can continue to evolve for years to come.

I remember when I subscribed in 2009. The huddle was not just a message board but a community. It has grown a lot since then and for the better. I support you Jeremy, and wish nothing but the best for the Huddle in the future.

LOL 2009, you should have seen this place in 2004. It was all about midget porn, boobs, and some Panthers football. Good times I tell ya.

Oh a thanks Zod for not turning this place over and making it the ESPN or Panthers board of year ago.

    • You're assuming just as well.   Morgan and Canales were hired 3 days apart.  I believe it was partially due to their connections in Seattle.  i believe Tepper wanted some familiarity with his GM and HC.  It is so easy to sit back and arm-chair QB over draft picks.  You don't know what the philosophy was going into the 2024 draft.  I believe Canales and Morgan were drafting for the future.  XL and Brooks point to that philosophy. Name me one GM that is 100% on draft picks.  Just one.  You're not going to find one.    I think year one picks weren't for what can you do for me now but Potential.   XL hasn't lived up to the hype of a 1st rounder.  I think we all can agree on that. However, there still is hope he comes around.  What I believe they saw in him was his speed after the catch.  He needs to get more consistent but when he gets the ball you kind of hold your breath just a second because if he gets free, he's gone.  The Brooks pick was a signing for the future, and no one could have guessed he would re-injure the same ACL.  This makes the pick look bad but Dallas was ready to draft him later that same round.  IMO we'll have to see what happens next season before we can call this a bust. Wallace has improved each season and for a third rounder has done well.  Sanders has shown flashes and considering the pick in the 4th round it wasn't a bad pick.  His sophomore season IMO was a little bit more productive.  Smith-Wade has been a good addition and has played well.  For a 5th round pick to get as much playing time as he has.  Most picks below round 3 should take a couple of years to get up to speed.  He's been a decent player.  Crumedy, no comment We turned Barrett into Jackson.  This was an amazing move and basically got a starting CB for a 7th round pick.  Pretty shrewd if you ask me. Coker, maybe the best Free Agent signing of the 2024 draft class. So, in short, you can't say that the draft was a bust.  It isn't a home run but all but one are still on the team and outside of Brooks have made contributions to wins.  2025 draft class has been much better with almost every pick making contributions this season.  Now take Fitterer's two years and compare them to Morgan and tell me that they have the same philosophy.
    • He hasn’t led crap, he’s on loaded teams and a piece of the puzzle. And he’s he has improved drastically but it took the ultimate QB whispers in Shanahan and KOC. You put him on this Panther team and he’s back to normal Darnold
    • Slavin and Jarvis week to week. Florida cheap shots took out our two best players.  I’d start KK so he can beat the brakes off someone.
