6 years, $150,250,000, $54,000,000 guaranteed, Projected contract for Cam

Why is everyone so concerned with Jerry Richardson's money?

If the salary cap increase makes this feasable to do, and we don't do it, I'll be pissed.

Because Cam has not proven to win in the clutch.

There is a chance we could be strapping the franchise and Cam never deliver post season results.

I think Cam will do that soon. But there is a chance.

I would prefer to wait to pay him mega bucks until he takes that next level

If you are paying pass-rushing DEs $15million or more, a franchise QB should be worth $25m.  Fortunately, we have the GM for it, one who can find gems in the trash pile.

Here is how you do this--

1. Never have a RB on a second contract.

2. Continue drafting hog mollies and pass rushers

3. Never overpay for other positions.

If Cam has a good season, then you see consistency and realize that he is worth the investment.  $25 million can be made up at the concession stands over that period of time, compared to losing him and going back to empty seats at the stadium.

I would then turn around and sign Luke to a lock-down deal.  I would have no problems with DG if we had $35 million in those 2 players.

Not really. Dilfer's career qb rating is 70.2

Pretty shitty.

Players regress and improve all the time.

If Dilfer had already won a superbowl and just finished a year or more ahead of Cam in qb rating and PFF ratings then yes RIGHT THEN / NOW Dilfer is better than Cam.

Cam has been a game manager since Chud left. He is asked to go out there and not make mistakes and maybe break off a big run or two.

We lean heavily on our D and run game.

Right now, Wilson and Ben are better than Cam.

Stop saying we rely on our run game. Cam is our run game. Without his rushing yards we are in the middle-back of the pack.

So those games last year do not count?

If MJ is still in his ear at all about advice and what to do in his career, hopefully he is telling him 'money isn't everything...becoming a legend will make you last forever'.

If I recall, MJ never took an insane deal...all he wanted was rings and look at how successful he was...lets hope cammy cam listens.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
