Big Money and Recent Injuries

two unrelated topics that struck me today:

1) Charles Johnson is still playing hard even if he hasnt gotten a sack yet. our ESPN beat writer wrote a pretty goot article this morning about Johnson that gives me hope he will rebound:

CJ has been doubled teamed most of the time, and has started slow in the past en route to a career season. He is coming off a hamstring injury that had him sidelined all through camp. i am not worried about him. he'll rebound.

2) for all the injuries we've had lately, the only players listed on the injury report as of yesterday were Stewart, Tolbert, and Davis. yes, these guys are integral parts of our team. But can their absence be made up for at least in part? yes i think so, with the exception of Stewart. what do you all think? i would elaborate more but i have to get to class

I kind of figured with Hardy out that CJ will suffer a little. I really haven't been paying attention to see if he has been getting doubled so I really can't comment on it. When does Frank come back? I am not saying he is Hardy but he will help nonetheless. Notice Addison is getting is sack total up so somebody is getting doubled.

Yeah CJ just doesn't seem to be playing with the same motor that he usually does and his patented bull rush doesn't seem to be nearly as effective.  He did miss some time though so hopefully he gets back in the groove soon.  I really hope Ealy can get it going soon as well.  His lack of playing time is disconcerting.  This said, I really only give defense the blame for giving up 23 points against the Steelers.

I think our biggest problems are on offense.

Thomas Davis is a HUGE blow. TD and Luke cover a lot of ground. Blow to both the run and pass D.

    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
    • I basically made almost the exact predictions on a phone call with a buddy about 3 weeks ago. I really do expect Evero gone before the seasons end, Young to just not able to get over the hump enough and DC to head into next season on a VERY hot seat.
