consensus so far is Carolina is not as bad as they looked Sunday, most are expecting a close game

I don't think Carolina can play much worse than they did against the Steelers. With that said, the Ravens pass rush has for the most part been absent in the first three games of the season, and the defensive backfield is struggling to tackle and cover receivers. I don't look for a lot of pressure on Newton, rather I think they'll look to contain him to the pocket and continue to rely on the front 4 to gain pressure.

I still say Ravens win the game, but not by a blow out.

23 - 17 Ravens.

They're defense will be much better- they will focus on Steve Smith, negating much of our offense ( I dont think we will run on them well).

They will move the ball like clockwork between the 20's getting 1 TD and lots of FGs....We will not be as effective on offense with Steve smith blanketed like the #1 WR he is for us....

19- 13 Panthers. ugh Pees Defense will give up to many yards and lead to too many FG's

So which Carolina team do we get this weekend? The one that convincingly beat the Lions 24-7 two weeks ago? Or the one that looked like Elkton High School's JV squad on Sunday night?

My guess is that they were extremely embarrassed by the blowout on Sunday night and will be much more focused on Sunday. There is a reason they finished last season on an 11-1 run. Underneath that SNF catastrophe is a pretty good football team.

The reasons we should beat them on Sunday are obvious. They are down to a 4th string running back so you can cross their running game off the list. Cam Newton is playing hurt and wearing full body armor to avoid being hit. Take away his threat to run all over the field and make plays and he becomes a one-dimensional pocket passer. Obvious keys to the game are getting pressure on Cam and also keeping a body on Gregg Olsen who is a great pass catching TE.

I think we'll run the ball well again, and Steve Smith will make a statement or two, as promised. Carolina just doesn't have the offensive fire power right now to keep up with most teams. One small X-factor in this game is Derrick Anderson. If Cam gets pulled early and Anderson comes in we have to take into account that the guy has hot streaks and can stand in the pocket and throw darts all day. If he comes in and makes the game close, don't say I didn't warn you! laugh.gif

Peyton Mannins is a one-dimensional pocket passer, too. Not that Cam is up to his level as a pocket passer, but I hate when people act like he's Vick 2.0. Cam has been great from the pocket when our o-line shows up.

Don't see either team winning by more than 10 or so.  Our defense is going to come out fired up for this one, I expect they will return to proper form and play their best game of the year.  I expect Cam to have a big game as well.  If DWill and the Oline can hold up, I don't see us losing this game.  It's a shame we don't get to discuss football with Ravens fans more often, they're Heaven compared to the dirty birds and aints!
