I feel bad for Chuck.  

 

He played a strong first two games. he just didn't get the sacks.  Third game, he had troubles. So did Kuechly, and TD, and most of the defense. 

 

And yet here he is, trying to own it and be a captain, while proving right the people that are wrong to say he's been playing poorly.

Personally I think he is helping draws pressure allows Addison to get sacks.. Soon Addison's numbers will drop as he is double teamed and cj will wreak havoc...missed tackles and over shooting gaps a huge problem last week.. Better correct it this week or another long game!!

As OP said we have already discussed this idea that CJ was being doubled because people were assuming "hey - CJ is the only threat now with Hardy out so teams will probably double him". It's not true with CJ and it certainly wouldn't be true with a situational pass rusher who makes bread on 3rd down only.

No one is sending a guard to kick out with the tackle and double up a pass rusher. They may help block the DTs, rotate, and bump the DE near the end of the play but even that only happened 3 times to CJ vs the Lions

CJ didn't once get doubled playing the LDE or RDE vs the Lions in our 4-3 and he got a tackle and 4 hurries on around 50 pass rush attempts. He saw time vs the LT and RT and only got pressure using bull rushes. Overall his game was poor.

He has no reason not to succeed against the Ravens... So no matter the side he's rushing there will be a rookie tackle waiting for him

Gonna be so crazy to see Hardy and CJ gone if we end up having a poor year. 

Then again we ought to bring in some serious talent for the 30 million we will be picking up even with the dead cap money hit.
