Official Panthers - Ravens Gameday Thread

Would love to have a guy like Sean Payton as our OC.   Saint fans bitch sometimes about him not calling run plays enough,  but,  he has a focus and he sticks with it,  live and die by the pass.              I'd like to see us do that with Cam.     Cam isn't as accurate as Brees,  but an OC coming up with creative ways for his qb to get his receivers the ball.. is appealing to me right now.   Seeing as how our passing game looks vanilla...and most of it isn't on Cam.

You're watching the game, right?

U're down by two TDs, not twenty.

In all honest, this is more a test of the team's coach than players. Can they make the necessary adjustments it takes to come back and win. Clearly Flacco isn't threatening this team none because it seems he's simply the benefactor of the lucky breaks and Refs calls.

This season is giving me the same hopeless feeling I had 2 years ago and beginning of last year. I think this team and FO got complacent this offseason and didn't attempt to improve this season. This is the result. The fans saw our line needed fixing in March, we did nothing. The fans saw Shula is inconsistent and fails during crucial times. We decided to keep him. The fans saw our safeties were going to look bad after letting Mitchell and company go. We signed a guy that should be retired and a guy that looks lost just about every play. Only decent thing we did was draft for the future at the position.

This season is mostly falling hard on DGs shoulders. How can you not put protecting your franchise QB as priority #1? And the coaches are looking like the 2011 and 2012 versions. DG has some huge work to do this offseason, like he should've done this offseason.

Funny, many of us were trying to tell Huddler's all year, the passing game was better than the run game, and that the team ball control offense, was more a product of last year, and didn't necessarily translate to this year.

Saying all that: The first half, doesn't have to be the second half, so let's hope things change dramatically.

Of course, that would take some good fortune, and/or better play calling from both sides?

wWe'll see?

    • Hard to tell in that offense. It’s a one read and go scheme, you aren’t making progressions. Same offense that gave us Corral (and Dart)
    • https://www.newsweek.com/sports/ncaa/lane-kiffin-pockets-major-bonus-after-ole-miss-cfp-win-over-georgia-11295783 The fact he got LSU to pay him bonuses for Ole Miss winning games is so bananas. LSU really is an insanely stupid school.
    • There is an advantage to a player having the ability to extend plays with their feet to allow guys to get open. Bryce had that in droves and to an extent he still does. I think the biggest knock is that he doesn't have great ability to threaten with his feet, however. McNabb could do that, Wilson could do that, Lamar is insanely dangerous, Murray can do that, etc, etc. But, there is also a fine line between extending plays to throw downfield and getting yourself in an even more difficult spot. Bryce tends to do the latter too frequently. The lack of serious scrambling ability(he isn't inept here, it's just a lower tier ability) hamstrings his scrambling around to get guys open. They don't have to worry about him gashing them for big yardage because he isn't an elite athlete. He is average, at best.
