According to PFF, this season's

Best Offensive Player: Cam Newton

Worst Offensive Player: Byron Bell

Best Defensive Player: Kawann Short

Worst Defensive Player: Charles Johnson

Best Wide Receiver: Jerricho Cotchery

Worst Wide Receiver: Kelvin Benjamin

Best Offensive Lineman: Garry Williams (ugh)

Second Worst Offensive Lineman: Nate Chandler

Best Corner: Bene Benwikere

Worst Corner: Melvin White

Best Safety: Roman Harper

Worst Safety: Thomas Decoud

Fairly spot on, aside from KB. He has had several drops on catchable balls but overall his positive impact has been far greater than anyone else.

Cason has been worse than White. But neither should be on the field.

Both would look fine provided the defense could apply one hint of QB pressure. They weren't expected to be shut down corners.

Last year's backfield would also look like complete garbage behind this year's defensive line.

True. We need Frank's presence to help as much as we hope. And KK should play damn near every snap. We really need CJ to step it up and Cole has been terrible (Dwan and KK should see all the snaps). Get TD back 100% and get those other guys to play to their capabilities and I think we'll be just fine.

I agree! I was telling some people about this. Last year, we were able to apply constant pressure which rushed opposing Qbs to get the ball out which in turn caused turnovers and incompletions. This year, we are unable to get constant pressure. QBs seem to have all day back there and our corners can only cover someone for so long. When we start getting pressure up front, you will see better play out of the secondary.

I am split between Cam and KB for offensive player.

I think KB's inconsistencies make him lower, drops, should've been fumble, penalties, etc. Cam has been damn near perfect passing the ball even with the worst line in the league. KB's been a monster for sure. But Cam is the man on our offense.

Cotchery played well last game which probably helped his pffffff stats.  Hard to say our leading WR has played the worst, but that is pffffff for ya.  Even the collective huddle realizes how well Short has played, but in comparison to all the other linemen, that isnt saying a whole lot.  We can look back as far as 2004 to see our oline has been consistently slow at starting off the seasons up through this year, so we should all expect some cohesion at some point, hopefully.

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
