Steve Smith Is ON WFNZ Having A Confessional, Won't Let the Story End

Well truth comes out........if true dg is a sorry ass gm for that move, could have been handled with class

As far as smith getting over its easy to say when YOUR'RE not the one getting release from your're dream job of 13 years

I seriously doubt what Smith described being said is anywhere close to the truth.

But to be perfectly honest, I don't really give a rip if my team's GM says "sorry, we're releasing you" or "don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out" as long as he builds a good team.

He built one that looked pretty good last season.  This season doesn't look as good, though injuries play a role.  We'll see how it looks by season's end.

Bottom Line: I worry a lot less about whether a guy's feelings were hurt by his release than I do about whether he was released for good reason.

My favorite part of the interview was when he said basically that he wasn't a distraction, that he never hit a women, never got a DUI, yeah, he hit a couple of team mates but he never hit a women.

There certainly is no evidence of such.

But my observation is that short, quick, violent tempers rarely have on/off switches set according to gender.

I wish there was a poll at the top of this thread that had the following options:

1) Pro Smitty

2) Pro Gettleman / Rivera

3) Nuetral

Option 4: Pro Panthers

What reason does he have to lie?? He already embarrassed our franchise and the whole world saw it. He doesn't have to throw our lies to make Dave look bad because he did that on the field.

Go back to JR's post.

Narcissism.

as if 4 weeks worth of 15 minutes wasn't enough... I really hope the Ravens know who they have... why retire here at this point. His shots are irrelevant and if he has sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much respect for several players and Mr. Richardson why continue this rant?

I'm all good with the 'why?' Still on the fence with the 'how'? Feel like he at least deserved a sit down.

I was trying to saw Smith might have hit a women.  I don't think that he has or would.  I was pointing out the irony of saying all he did was hit some teammates a few times.  Breaking Anthony Brights orbital socket in a team meeting isn't something one can just gloss over.

one thing i just thought of is that gettleman might not even so much as acknowledge this publicly which i'm sure is going to drive steve insane

Did you even listen? He just wanted to clear his name. He doesn't care about Dave, he let Dave know how he felt on the field

For those that want the cut throat, get out the door GM. Be careful what you wish for, I don't see players lining up wanted to come here after this. Steve Smith is well respected in this league. It's cute how some of you just dismiss him as a liar tho.

No one is calling him a liar. But things are rarely accurate from either side. Communication isn't perfect.

Take what gettleman says, take what's Steve says, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
