Harper talks about Kuechly

From Jones in the Observer (link)

“I’ve been on the other side when Luke had 20-some tackles, and I blamed the rain for that,” said Harper, who was with the Saints last year when Kuechly had 24 tackles in the Week 16 win last season. “But now I know that’s just who this guy is, and I tip my hat to him. I just gave him a big hug and I said, ‘Man, I appreciate you.’

“And the fact that he continues to lead us and never bats an eye, never points fingers, always positive and just flies around and makes plays. I understand all the ‘Luke’ chants in the crowd.”

The change of perspective amuses me.

Also, from the 'quick hits' at the end of the article...

In the second half, the referee kept his mic on during a dead ball. “Hey, this has turned into a pretty good football game,” he told another official.

Lol, that is seriously great commentary by the refs. Why Harper amuses you I'm not sure. He spoke the truth, many guys would kiss ass to the question and not answer honestly.

He's talking about last year's second Saints-Panthers game.

How do you attribute Luke's performance in that game to "the rain"?

(Milli Vanilli reference incoming shortly)

Interesting quote by Newton at the end. Subtle shot at Shula and forcing the running game?

“We’re getting there. What can’t happen is we feel pressured or hear whispers about running the football.” – Newton.

I may be mistaken, but I believe he was asked about his lack of

I may be mistaken, but I believe he was asked about his lack of rushes and he was saying he can't listen to what people are saying and start forcing it. Don't think he was talking about Shula or even the RBs at all but rather his run game.

Ahh. I haven't watched the post game interviews so the quote in the article is without any context.

Not as good as the Patriots game.

IMO yes it was. Stakes were higher, rain was awesome, crowd was awesome, awesome game winning drive, Luke was awesome...

I have personal reasons as well, my mom died the next morning (not to be Debbie Downer) and that stadium was as loud as it has ever been

Having been at both games, I can't day one was better than the other...both were exciting...and awesome.  The rain game had that unique element with the monsoon....and the rain getting big cheers the harder it got.  NE was MNF.  Both were great.  Period.

    • Ohio State no. 8 won it all last year.  No. 6 Penn State and no. 7 Notre Dame advanced to the semi-final. This year no. 7 Ole Miss is going to win it all.
    • agreed.  Lack of games/opportunity makes him a non-factor in OROTY talk.  He is just now getting the stage where there is legit film on him.  Takes awhile to really see how guys react to all the different scenarios and to find the real weak spots on a QB's play in an O.
    • Oh boy how the tables have turned...the passion and extent at which you defend Shough would make even the staunchest Bryce fanboys blush.  The bold part is especially straight from their playbook.  Even if someone here were to withhold giving Shough props, it's pretty understandable as a Panthers fan.  What's quite odd is becoming the biggest stan of our most hated rival's starting QB.  I don't think even Saints fans drool over him this hard. For the record I think this talk about "stans" and "fanboys" is cringe AF and I'm admittedly being rather hyperbolic because this is exactly the kind of discourse and language you personally love to engage in and it's fun to play in the mud from time to time.  There is absolutely no world where you do not meet your own criteria of a "Super Stan" for Shough with how loosely you apply that label to people for Bryce in here.  You're like the Final Boss of Super Stans.
