Thomas Davis on Tie

This board was split roughly 50/50 yesterday on people who were ok with the tie and others that felt like it was a loss. Maybe accepting mediocre comes with being a long time Panthers fan, I don't know. I do know that no self respecting competitor is ok with a tie, especially given how that game was ended.

Here's the front page of the Cincy newspaper today that Person tweeted out...

Anyone who was ok with the tie did so in the context that the defense did not hold them at the ned and they had a chip shot to win.  Honestly we were pretty lucky to salvage a tie given that 9 times out of 10 the other team makes the kick and we lose.

Was it a loss?  of course not but it was a game that we were given multiple chances to win and barely managed to tie.

In fairness, the Bengals did lose. They missed agame winning FG. To them, it should most definitely feel like a loss.

Did you see our FG team celebrating when Nugent missed? That's called a win for us and a loss for them!

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
