Take a Chance on Jeff Demps?

Carolina needs a shot in the arm in the return game.  This guy is a speedster.  Bucs are releasing him from their PS.  I think hes definitely worth a look.

Philly is a really good WR and KO returner. Terrible at PRs. If this guy won't put the ball on the ground and doesn't look like he's about to poo a brick every time he catches a punt, why not?

I would take a look as just a pure return specialist. I feel he would be like Trindon Holliday and not be able to take NFL hits. Trindon had a few fumbles from getting rocked on returns. Speed is useless if you cannot hold onto the ball.

I would love to have Jeff Demps, the fastest man in the NFL, with his 4.26 40 speed, on our team but i'm not sure where he would fit. Demps is 5'7" 191, to small and inexperienced to be a every down RB,so he would have to be a special teams player. The importance of kickoff returns is diminishing,so it might be hard to find a role for him considering we have lots of other needs.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
