Cam's first-down celebrations really bother a lot of people. Why?

I hate it when any player does that. I'm only 30. And it's because first downs aren't hard to come by. Imagine an o lineman celebrating every time he doesn't give up a sack. Or a kicker doing something everytime he gets a touchback. Why not the whole offense line dances after a defensive penalty resulting in a first down?

Is this a generational thing? My dad has never once criticized Cam until he told me how much he hates his first-down celebrations out of the blue yesterday. People at the office are ripping him for it. Even Jim Celania who we all love and who loves Cam was calling Cam out for the first-down finger point.

Am I the only one that truly doesn't get the big deal about it at all? People seem to not care about that at all as long as we're winning. The second we lose and/or Cam doesn't play well, it's all about how awful the first-down celebration is.

This is Year 4. Is this something Cam needs to get rid of like the towel over the head to appease the haters?

Winning cures all.

It's like when you are pissed off at someone. It's very easy to find every little thing wrong about them that u can to help validate your emotions.

And that's just it, emotions.

If we would have won yesterday this would be a no. Issue.

However, if you look at the game again you will notice how WELL he was playing when he was having fun kidding around and being himself.

I for one love when he is in that mode cause I know we are going to play well

Look at the second half and his demeanor changes and then he begins to press. And well we all know the outcome.

It's freaking entertainment, he's doing it to get our fans hyped up. How many 1st downs do we have that he didn't run or throw to achieve??

When you've accounted for about 78% of the teams offense (last season) you can do a fuging cartwheel n grab ur junk like MJ (RIP) for all i care.

If anything be mad that he still HAS to run so much for this team to even have a chance.

Truth

While this seahawk fan was quiet as hell the first half complaining about how we should be blowing them out, it wasn't until they won at the very end he wanted to bash Cam and his "first down celebrations"

This is also my answer to those criticizing Cam... the PA announcer makes a HUGE deal of first downs in the stadium and everyone in the hyped up sections does the point when we get a 1st down.  Why shouldn't Cam?

This x1000...Literally the entire stadium is encouraged to celebrate first downs through the PA system. They're like miniature touchdowns IMO. I mean, what's more consistently suspenseful than the myriad of "3rd & Long's" (or 4th and inches) throughout the game where you know that somehow the Panthers NEED to convert or the opposing team gets their chance with the ball? First downs rule, and if they are celebrated by the fans in attendance, then I see no reason to look down on a 2-second smile/finger-point by the guy who got the job done.
