Our Coach Next Year should be Jimbo Fisher

Excellent rebuttal. Really put that football knowledge on full display here. My age doesn't change that good college coaches can make great NFL coaches these days.

By the way

Carroll isn't a good example for your argument if you know his history (or just look back a few posts).

Really? The recent guys coming up from college have been fairing pretty damn well. Jim Harbaugh had immediate success, Chip Kelly's Eagles are doing pretty well, and Pete Carroll won the Super Bowl past year.

Jim and Pete had pro coaching experience. Chip had been on the nfl radar since 06.

Crikey! Look what we got here, mate! These are a rare breed. These species of people actually believe there is some extraordinary schematical gap between college football and the professional level in the year 2014!

What? Really?! Wow that's amazing!

You bet your bum! Unfortunately, thousands are being wiped out every year as news breaks time and again of NFL head coaches traveling to meet with these college coaches to gain strategic insight! Take a picture while you can lads, in just a few short years, this species will be all but extinct!

This is the exact mindset that our whole organization share which is why we will never get anybody good. This same mindeset is the reason we didn't go after Chip Kelly (who I wanted badly), Jim Harbaugh, or Pete Carroll. Why not try it? It's not like our current strategy of hiring coaches is working anyway.

Yup

It's the reason, why the Panthers are stuck with the Not Ready For Prime Time Rivera-Coach In Learning-Rivera, instead of having Chip Kelly here.

G-man would have to work his magic.  There's a first for everything.  With that said, Fisher's resume is dang impressive.

I find it funny (latter in the thread) that people are actually arguing with you.

Cause, as far as I'm concerned, ANYONE would be better than Ron Rivera.

Let's face. He's never been, and just isn't an NFL Head Coach. So anyone of those names would be an improvement, better than him.

Rivera, needs to be somebody Else's  coordinator. Plain and simple.

    • That makes me wonder, how many starting tackles in the NFL and/or elite tackles have short arms? I feel like there’s probably lots of tackles that end up being drafted in later rounds because they had short arms or didn’t have the physical tools.     also why not draft a tackle in the later rounds that we could move to guard or center if they fail, instead of drafting a center? If we draft a center we know they aren’t going to play tackle but if you draft a tackle they could end up playing any of the 3 positions, look at BC for example. It feels like it’s a better decision to draft a tackle in later rounds than a center.
    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
