Stupid ESPN article about KB

Yeah, it's not completely bad, but it just seems like they're scraping the bottom of the barrel for articles.

Every rookie WR is going to be inconsistent, that's a given. Odell Beckam hasn't been making 1 handed catches every game, right?

My point is, what's the point of this article? He's stating the obvious and we're pretty f'ing lucky to have KB.

What's the point of this thread?

Hes been a bust so far, can you really blame people trashing him?! Him and Cam are a match made in heaven, both are about as streaky and inconsistent as they come. Wish we would have got Beckham Jr. KB has been pretty awful, whats even worse is when you realize a majority of his good TDs and stats came in garbage time.

Just read the article.  Nothing wrong with it.  I happen to like David Newton, he does a very fine job of reporting the truth on the Panthers.   In a nutshell, he said that Benjamin is a having a good year and even in the running for R.O.Y., but there is plenty of room for improvement.  If he wants to be among the best in the league, then he needs to improve reception-to-target percentage. That being said, Wow, some of the nearly impossible catches he has made this year clearly show what kind of talent he has and that he is playing nowhere near his ceiling at this time.  Definitely was not a bash article. I don't know how anyone could see it coming across that way?

He is an attention seeking wh@@# mode again.  It's like herpes.. he pops up is annoying for a while then goes away.

Basically he will keep putting out inflammatory post to try to provoke people into responding.  Expect a similar post if we win/lose. something along the lines of

"Yeah we won despite Cam Newton"  or " It's all Cam's fault " or KB sucks and OBJ is 1000 times better.

Playing well for a few games usually shuts him up, but since we haven't been playing well... he will get louder and louder.

Just appreciate the entertainment value he brings.  Oh and he really wants you to talk about banning him.  That makes his day.

the article says: "Benjamin is having a spectacular season. ... He is..a strong candidate for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. ... He is second among rookie receivers in receptions (52) and receiving yards (768), and first in touchdown catches with eight."

it points out that his only flaw is that he has his drops (we all knew this about KB when we drafted him) and his "number of catches (52) to targets (98) isn’t spectacular."

the author of the article, Panthers beat writer for ESPN David Newton, had the biggest man-crush on KB from the moment we drafted him. Remember this thread where we made fun of Newton for taking his man-crush too far? ...

    • No one's saying LaMelo has no blame we're responding to you acting like he's the reason they lost. The scapegoating and blaming the teams woes on his personality is where it's like Cam Newton all over again. It was a failure on multiple fronts and primarily Lee's. Dude said ON AIR pregame that they had to protect the paint and if that was his gameplan going in he couldn't have botched it more. As the commentators said Ball's a rhythm guy and Orlando was preventing him for getting any kind of flow going. I'm a normie watching on TV and said they needed to bait them into fouling to combat that. They didn't even try until the 2nd half when it was too late. I think it's fair to expect the star to overcome whatever but LaMelo was not the problem in that game and he's not what is holding the team back. He's the only reason they're flirting with being a great team. I kinda put the center play on Lee too. Moose is great until he's up against a big who can body him. We've always known that and that's what Kalkbrenner is for. I don't know if it would have changed much but Kalkbrenner should have had more minutes than him.  And moving forward with the center position, I just think it's the time to trade Diabate while his stock's high and that's not an indictment of his game. He's like an evolved combination of Biyombo and PJ. He's a great rim protector and the strength issue is just what you're going to have to deal with if you want that. But Kalkbrenner is perfectly capable of protecting the rim and we gotta get away from the undersized centers or it'll always be a problem for us.
    • Honestly its why that Jalen Coker grab was a big deal.  I'd been warming up to the idea of a sadiq pick and was adamantly against a receiver...but this altered my train of thought.  I mean For instance, Cade Otton signed for 3 yr 30 mil contract...thats not dramatically different than the rookie payscale for #19 (4 year 20 mil with 5th year option), however you KNOW otton is decent...no clue if Sadiq will be anything.
