He said that Cam has to be perfect for people to see that he is worth a damn.

Cam is far from perfect (every QB is) and almost everyone around here want's his signed long term....hence his statement being as far from the truth as possible.

Cam is making the same mistakes that he has made since day 1, what folks are wanting to see is improvement, not perfection.

Still not his point.

Pair this OL and WR corp and weak traditional rush attack.....in a see if you can stop what you you know is coming offense with any elite QB?

And they will start looking like crappy versions of themselves and showing flaws they usually don't

I don't understand what you are trying to say here.

That dude said Cam has to be perfect for folks to think he's worth a damn, and that just isn't the case, not here, and not anywhere.

Brees falls down in his own end zone from fatigue after 10 TD throws, Harper trips over him?

I think you may be on to something

At the end of the game, Brees feels terrible about kicking a wounded animal so in his pity he "fumbles" the ball through the back of the Endzone.

I disagree with Cam not being an improved player since day 1. He is better.

His supporting cast just gets worse each season....which is a blueprint no other NFL franchise would do for their #1 draft pick QB through 4 years

You and I will have to disagree on the roster being worse.

Only things worse, Chud vs. Shula, and Gross and Smith.  Gross retired (nothing we could do), and Smitty was overpaid for his services at his age.

This is a much better roster than what we had in 2011, IMO.

What on Earth are you talking about?

Almost everyone on this board thinks Cam should be here long term....that means that almost everyone on this board think that Cam is "worth a damn"....so there goes that part of your posts.

And lets look at "perfect".  Cam has been a 60% passer once in his career, his rookie season.  Cam has a TD to INT number of around 1.45-1, or about the same as Cutler and Dalton...certainly not "perfect".

This is not the only fanbase that picks apart their QB....in fact roughly 26 or so of the NFL do this all the time, especially during losing seasons.

What I'm talking about was clear.

CAM NEWTON IS THE ONLY PLAYER WHO HAS TO PLAY PERFECT 100% OF THE TIME TO MANY FOOLS IN THIS FANBASE AND IN THE MEDIA or else that means he sucks.

It's all or nothing when it comes to Cam Newton.

That is what I'm talking about.

Yea, I hear you, and it's not accurate.

2011 OL > 2014 OL

2011 WR > 2014 WR

2011 traditional rush attack > 2014

What unit is better around Cam now?

2011 was Cam best supporting cast. 2014 his weakest in 4 years (strictly speaking offensive cast)

You can't just talk about offense, defense and ST is a huge part of winning games.

You are the only one here making it all or nothing, black and white. The rest of us live here in the grey area.

I said Cam overthrows his receivers. He does this A LOT. his completion percentage isn't great and his TD:INT ration isn't great. His QB rating has floated in the 80's for his career.

These are all facts.

You keep spouting some BS about how Cam has to be 100% for fans to like him or whatever point it is you're trying to make.

I love Cam and hope he gets a ten year contract here. If he left the team I'd be pissed. I flew to Arizona to see his first NFL start against the Cardinals because I was so pumped about his potential.

So you need to keep your thoughts to yourself if you have no idea what you are talking about. Me mentioning Cam's obvious flaws that have been around regardless of his WR's or offensive linemen has zero to do about whether or not I like him.

People need to stop getting so damn defensive when Cam is mentioned.

Agreed.  With all of it.

If these guys want, I can start picking apart any QB in the NFL at a moments notice, the only difference....I care about this team, and we are on a Panthers message board.

    • Interestingly I think we have kind of of gone through this as an organization. Richardson implemented an FO driven tank. Bad roster, no cash spent, coach uninterested. It may have been for different reasons but I think the results were the same. A team that wasn't going to win many if any games. We ended up with the #1 pick. Cam Newton came in and changed the franchise. It worked, but Cam himself pointed to the losing culture in the locker room needing to be changed. It probably took about 2-3 years for that to happen. Tank worked pretty damn well for us. Cam is one of one. Not another like him, everyone can't deliver on his draft status AND change a culture basically on his own.  So as an exercise here are the last 30 #1 picks. If you tanked and got to pick #1 how many of these guys do you think were worth it? Not just good players, but franchise changers. Guys who will take your culture and shift it so the tank was actually worth it. I would say maybe 9 or 10 guys would be worth a tank, pending the last 5 picks?    2025: Cam Ward (Miami (FL)) - Tennessee Titans 2024: Caleb Williams (USC) – Chicago Bears 2023: Bryce Young (Alabama) – Carolina Panthers 2022: Travon Walker (Georgia) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2021: Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2020: Joe Burrow (LSU) – Cincinnati Bengals 2019: Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) – Arizona Cardinals 2018: Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) – Cleveland Browns 2017: Myles Garrett (Texas A&M) – Cleveland Browns 2016: Jared Goff (California) – Los Angeles Rams 2015: Jameis Winston (Florida State) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2014: Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina) – Houston Texans 2013: Eric Fisher (Central Michigan) – Kansas City Chiefs 2012: Andrew Luck (Stanford) – Indianapolis Colts 2011: Cam Newton (Auburn) – Carolina Panthers 2010: Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) – St. Louis Rams 2009: Matthew Stafford (Georgia) – Detroit Lions 2008: Jake Long (Michigan) – Miami Dolphins 2007: JaMarcus Russell (LSU) – Oakland Raiders 2006: Mario Williams (North Carolina State) – Houston Texans 2005: Alex Smith (Utah) – San Francisco 49ers 2004: Eli Manning (Mississippi) – San Diego Chargers 2003: Carson Palmer (USC) – Cincinnati Bengals 2002: David Carr (Fresno State) – Houston Texans 2001: Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) – Atlanta Falcons 2000: Courtney Brown (Penn State) – Cleveland Browns 1999: Tim Couch (Kentucky) – Cleveland Browns 1998: Peyton Manning (Tennessee) – Indianapolis Colts 1997: Orlando Pace (Ohio State) – St. Louis Rams 1996: Keyshawn Johnson (USC) – New York Jets 1995: Ki-Jana Carter (Penn State) – Cincinnati Bengals
