i'm glad he's ok… it's been a scary couple of days. hopefully this brush with disaster gives him a new perspective and lights a fire under his ass.

that said i can't help but shake my head when people attribute their surviving car crashes to god's protection. more than 3,000 people die in car crashes every day in the u.s…. it seems arrogant to suggest jesus had his hands on your steering wheel but decided to take a smoke break when the other 3,000 careened off a cliff or whatever. oh well, superstitions gonna superstition.

I agree with you but he's one of the good ones.

I am more and more pleased with the type of man Cam is. He's a kid and I couldn't imagine having to be responsible for a billion dollar organization at 25. Taking the heat and pressure of being the #1 overall pick and being wealthy beyond my wildest dreams. I'm amazed he still even has the ability to thank anyone other than himself as that's what tends to happen with extremely successful people. It's hard to stay grounded and remember the times where you weren't so important and no one cared whether your truck flipped or how you acted on the sidelines. That he recognizes his vulnerability and the fleeting existence we all share is wisdom beyond his years. Add to that he still has the courage to share his beliefs and coax people to stop with the pettiness and just love one another is the true definition of humanity both secular and religious.

At the core of the human experience is the desire to live... To survive and thrive. Your instinct is to above all else ensure your survival. YOU. If you have a family, then that scope broadens, but the gist is the same, as your children would ensure your survival as well even if you pass.

That being said... To illustrate my point, regardless of your beliefs, if a tornado completely destroys your home and you come to laying in a field, do you open your eyes and start looking for Joe Shmoe in BFE, Nebraska to make sure he's alright, or do you start looking for YOUR family? Generally, people make sure themselves and their loved ones are safe and secure before moving on to being concerned with anyone else. It's not arrogance, it's human nature. It's survival.

So, when you go through an experience like that, first and foremost, you're thankful that you are alive. Again, regardless of your beliefs, you are thankful. You may express it in different ways but you are thankful.

Cam isn't being arrogant. Neither is anyone else that express that thankfulness with the sincerity he has, that they lived through a potentially-life threatening event. They are thankful that they, individually, are alive. They aren't thankful they lived and Joe Shmoe they don't know died. They are just thankful they lived. Furthermore, when you believe that you, yourself, as an individual, are being protected by a higher power, you are thankful that you were kept relatively safe and allowed to live through your experience.

Even if I wasn't a man of faith, I don't see how that is offensive.

But, I agree with everything Cam said, and I'm thankful he is alive and well.

Well said.  I really hope this does not backfire on me or offend anyone, but a shitload of thoughts are running through my head as I await treatment and Cam's post really hit home.  That said, I am not a man of faith.  I have my reasons, and those reasons I'll keep private.

I live a productive life.  I have a great career and a great family.  I give back to the community and to those in need since I consider myself a fortunate person.  Even though I am not a man of faith, I do live by one of the Bible's teachings; So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.

This world we live in does need to be more tolerant, as evident by just about every news story making headlines these days.  It flat out does not matter the reason you may be thankful for getting through a trying or potential life threatening situation.  For that matter, it doesn't even matter if you thank your fuging window blinds for winning a $10 scratch off ticket.

Point being, have faith in something.  Have faith in yourself.  Have faith in your family.  Have faith in your friends.  Have faith in God.  Have faith in your fuging window blinds. If it gives you strength, GO FOR IT.  If you see or hear someone showing faith in something you don't agree with, chill.  As long as what they believe in causes no harm to others, chill.  If it brings them calm, if it brings them strength, chill.

That being said, let's all be thankful, in our own ways, that our franchise QB was not hurt any worse than he was.  That 98 Dodge of his could have flipped off the damn bridge.

Go Panthers!

I came here to post this- glad someone already shared it. I'm not a religious person at all, but to each their own. Cam's personal beliefs are his business. The message he gave is still great regardless of your beliefs. People take life for granted, it's just human nature. You only live once and you never know when your time is up. Glad he's okay because that wreck could've ended much worse.

Also, in before Philly spews religious intolerance everywhere and this thread is derailed.

Edit: Too late, he already posted.

For someone so adamant about letting people live their life however they please you sure have no problem telling people how wrong they are about things. Take that poo to the tinderbox bro. Go Panthers!!

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
