Derek Anderson the diamond in the rough

He did have a few throws that should've been picked, and the interception that was called back because of a bogus call (which I was happy to take) but overall he was great.

Disagree that was a bogus call.  The Bucs had gotten away with at least two slaps to DA's face before that that should have been called.  It might be lame, but 90% of the time that call is made in today's NFL.  Finally getting caught for it on an INT is karma.

Newton will be starting over Anderson as soon as he's cleared because he's the better QB.

Anderson is Newton's back up & is one of the best back ups around. Whine all you want but there it is...

why is this even a question?  I like Anderson and all and I am glad he is here but he has the Kerry Collins syndrome as a starter.

A bunch of us.

...but you probably mean TheRealDeal.  I sometimes miss him, he was a fun poster for a long time, but then he started just trolling people.

bleh.  For the longest time he was the most annoying poster on this forum.  His levels have since been surpassed though.

Thing is I actually like Anderson. He seems to have a good rapport with cam and has filled in well when called on. Kind of disappointing that he's little more than another implement in the old troll toolbelt now but oh well.

All the trolling idiocy aside, I respect Derek, he's a terrific teammate, he deserves some success.

You really couldn't ask for much more from your backup. We're clearly fortunate in that regard.

There was a time before 2010 when he was useful.  I think in/around 2008-2009 he had a lot of insightful posts.  It has been a while, so I can't remember when exactly he just started relentlessly trolling people.

He is nothing like what we have to deal with regularly now, that's true.  The thing about TRD was he was very capable of providing interesting football insight, he just stopped caring enough to.

    • I’m really having a hard time understanding how this actually went down. -Renfrow expected to make roster as 2nd/3rd string. -Panthers cut Renfrow; Keep Brycen Tremayne, and add UDFA receiver (Dalevon Campbell) to active roster.  -Canales/Morgan say it’s totally up to Hunter whether he wants to come back or not, they would love to have him.    -Renfrow not signed to PS -Panthers trade Adam Thielen -Hunter Renfrow signed to active roster with a raise after an injury to Coker nobody heard about and is likely to start.    Our WR room is now: -Xavier Legette (2024 1st round pick) -Tet McMillan (2025 1st round pick) -Hunter Renfrow (1 year out of the league) -David Moore (Canales’ friend? A guy way past his prime) -Jimmy Horn (Likely a Shi Smith reprint, but has potential 2025 6th round pick, weighs 174 lbs) -Brycen Tremayne (2023 UDFA who was on Washington’s PS for 2 years and caught 1 pass for -2 yards and averaged 300 yards per year at Stanford) -Dalevon Campbell (2025 UDFA had a good preseason but had 1463 yards and 3 TDs over 5 college seasons at 3 different schools). What the hell is going on?
    • Not uncommon for week 1 games. Especially against good defenses. It’s why I prefer my team play these small schools week 1 if they are going to play them. Gives the offense time to get calibrated.
