A realistic path to the Super Bowl

Just for fun I decided to see what teams we might face if we make the playoffs - I've found one scenario that is particularly interesting.  In this scenario, we beat (or tie) Atlanta, Detroit beats Green Bay (clinching a division and the #2 spot), and Seattle wins against the Rams (securing a #1 seed). NFC seeding is as follows:

#1 - Seattle

#2 - Detroit

#3 - Dallas

#4 - Carolina

#5 - Arizona

#6 - Green Bay

Round 1, we would face Arizona, who will be starting either Ryan Lindley (an awful quarterback) or Logan Thomas (a rookie who is probably worse than Lindley). This is a winnable game.

Round 2, we will assume Green Bay beats Dallas, meaning we play Detroit. Seattle would be very difficult to beat, but we beat Detroit earlier in the season and we can probably do it again.

Round 3, we would either play a road game at Seattle or a home game against Green Bay. Both would be difficult, but not impossible, matches; we've played both and have matched up reasonably well against Seattle the past few years. The odds are against us here but a win isn't out of the question.

Finally, in the Super Bowl, the best-case scenario is basically split between Cincinnati and Indianapolis. We should have beat Cincinnati early in the season and Indianapolis is somewhat of weak team. If they manage to sneak to the Super Bowl, we could take them

So, in short, our best scenario for playoffs is home vs. Arizona (winnable), @Detroit (winnable), @Seattle (stretch) OR home Green Bay (stretch), Cincinnati/Indianapolis (winnable). Will it happen? I doubt it. We may not even win tomorrow. But, the fact this scenario is even possible shows why anyone who wants us to lose is delusional. This is football - there's always a chance. I'll take even a shot at a Super Bowl over a slightly higher draft pick. This is what we have to play for.

This happens every year. People set themselves up for disappointment.

Panther fans have the unique ability to go from walk in front of a high speed train depression to a walk in the clouds euphoria unlike any other fan base on a week to week win to win basis.

Practice I guess chasing that damned Panther carrot on the end of a stick.

    • Not sure about reporters, but fans do that all the time. Hell, if you were to ask some people on here, Cam Newton never had a single bad game in his entire career. Regardless of whether it's Young, Newton, Delhomme, Clausen, Teddy Bridgewater or even Matt Moore, It's never "everybody else's fault" anymore than it's ever all one person's fault. Young's performance this past Sunday was not good enough, but he had plenty of help.
    • 1st pick was a panic we need a WR for Bryce type of pick - they chose the wrong one. 2nd pick was inexcusable because RB was the one position we didn't desperately need I get the Wallace pick - dude has great athleticism for the LB position. Just has zilcho instincts 4th and 5th round picks look good to me Could care less about 6th and 7th round because those are usually special teamers at best caliber players. Plus we got Coker as a UDFA to negate them.   Overall probably a bad draft because of the 1st 2 picks + Wallace looking bad (granted, I think Brooks would have been a good RB if he could stay healthy). I do think Dan did a good job in the 2025 draft though.
    • "on pace" after one game is kinda silly. Derrick Henry is on pace for over 3000 yards rushing and 17 fumbles.  doesn't really matter though. Defenses are going to take Tet away and make Renfrow and XL beat them. He'll get tons of garbage time crossing routes for ten yards though. Hopefully he avoids the Bryce young hospital balls.
