Will Derek Anderson be a Panther next year?

Anderson still has one year on a two year contract.  But he played extremely well in relief of Cam Newton in two starts and mercy play when the Panthers were getting blown out in a few games.  Could a team offer a high draft pick for him?  There will be a good number of teams in the market for a stopgap starting veteran QB.  Anderson, a former Pro Bowl selection, could be at the top of the list.  Much like Josh McCown last season, Anderson could find himself starting again.

No team is going to offer a high pick for old DA. Not even mid level pick

Let's just be happy we have a decent backup and one that is a good mesh with our #1.

Having Anderson continue as a backup is ideal for us... but I'd take this in a heartbeat.

I wasn't that surprised, although I thought it was a great play.  But Webb is probably not the typical third string qb.  He ran a 4.43 forty and is a few years younger than Hester.  Given that he is a few years younger than Hester, he is probably a little bit faster at this point in their careers.

McCown also helped show why you leave those guys as backups. I think McCown plays against Anderson's of the world that are looking for more.

I actually think if DA left for a one year bridge job it would shorten his career.

If Cam is here long term? DA actually could hang around another 4 years or so realistically

I think so. I think he's happy here and wants to be here as a backup and mentor to Cam for a while.

Not much chance we get a first rounder for him and very little chance we give him up for anything else.  I thought Arizona might offer something for him when Palmer went down as Anderson would be an upgrade over anyone playing for them now, but I doubt even they would give up a first.
