Rivera, a shot at coach of year?

lol no!

But I will give him credit, I was scared to death that he'd play Deangelo a lot more than he did yesterday. He used Deangelo just after Stewart ripped off a huge run and needed a break.

Now if we could just get him to do something about that loser he calls a friend that is in charge of the special teams unit I'll start believing that he's learning from his mistakes.

eventually, people are going to have to stop treating DW like he's poison or that Rivera/Shula are automatically going to favor him.  Everyone knows Stewart's the hot hand.  He will need to share some carries over time, and DW is talented.  So is Tolbert.

Rivera, no coach of the year.  You don't go on a streak of blowout losses like that and earn that.  Kudos for bringing it back up, retooling and salvaging.  I'm far from on the "we'll never win as long as blahblahblablah" sort of thing.  But he's had his issues this year.   If it's Coach of December, sure thing, sign me up.

Arians should and will get coach of the year, but Rivera has done a remarkable job in Carolina, not just this season, but since day 1.

Of course, if the Huddle had its way, he would have been fired 4 or 5 times already.

The Panthers have had a top 10 defense the last three years without overall great talent and the one constant is Ron Rivera.

His players genuinely respect him and always play their asses off for him---their is no quit in a Rivera team---despite the fact that according to the vast majority of Huddler's he had "lost the locker room" earlier this season.

He is never going to be "flashy" like Chip Jelly or Shawn Peyton, but where exactly are those two "genius" coaches setting at the moment?

I haven't looked at this silly board for a while, but I actually read a post earlier where one of the typical windbags suggested that Rivera should be fired if he loses next weekend.

Go ahead and fire Rivera again, football savant Huddler's.

He would be named head coach of another NFL franchise in a matter of days...

Absolutely not. He was a BAD coach this year. The team saving his job doesn't mean he did a good job. He might be good at one facet of coaching - inspiring players - but he is mind blowingly inept at managing a game and making personnel decisions. Those are two very critical parts of coaching.

LOL @ Rivera being coach of the year. He made way too many mistakes, but props for pulling it and keeping it all together.

However, LOL @ people thinking that we were really going to fire the reigning coach of he year.  He's still learning, developing and improving, and I won't fault him for that.

I think Rivera is here for a while. I don't see us not winning the division next year. Saints should be worse due to their cap situation. Falcon will have a new coaching staff. The Bucs will buc. We should be better after another Gettleman draft and continued development of this years rookie class. Rivera will get extended next year. Let's just hope Gettleman pushes him to change OCs.
