Josh Norman on Punt Returns.....

Jeremy Igo

Recommended Posts

We spoke to Josh a bit last night about him being the 3rd in line for punt returns this week. He said he had no idea until punt drills in practice started. Ron Rivera in his press conference said "Hold on to your shorts" if Josh got a chance at it.

I really like the idea, what say you?

Also, if you haven't listened to the podcast, you really should.

No one else in Charlotte media is providing long form player interviews. I think its something we can provide, but for us to get more players on we need listens and downloads, so please consider giving it a shot.

Not after his interception return a couple weeks ago. I don't care if we have a returner who fair catches every punt. The name of the game is hold on to the ball and if you trust Josh to do that each and every return, so be it, I don't.

Lets say the Panthers are up 35 to 3 in the final minute of the 4th quarter.

Give Josh a shot? See what he has?

Absolutely. I like him running with the ball and what he can do but it seems in his mind it is boom or bust. I'd rather him not bust a return in a 2 point game with 5 minutes left. I love everything about him at corner though.

    • One thing I didn’t consider is how thin this draft is at quarterback. That’s going to drive up the market for backups and borderline starters like Willis, Jones, and Jameis Winston. Because of that, we’ll most likely be priced out of the market for this tier of backup.
    • We've already beat the #1 seed twice, why not one more? (Packers and Rams were both #1 seed at the time we played)
    • My determination has come down to this. Based on recent QB history, has Bryce's improvement warranted 50m per season? Lamar is the only original team QB to play on his 5th year. The others took major deals at the end of the 3rd, before or just after the option was signed. Chances are, we're getting asked for the same.  I haven't rooted for Bryce to fail. I've rooted for him to succeed so big that them signing that extension would give me no worries about our future at QB at all. We haven't seen that level of play consistently that this year. We haven't seen it in the past 6 games.  We're about to be at a threshold with Bryce and I worry about what this front office will do. We have a history of bad decision making and Morgan has been part of that group making those decisions. I don't want Carolina in the same boat Arizona and Miami are right now. It has nothing to with being right. It has to do with wanting to win for more than a single season. We've never had back to back winning seasons. Faith in their abilities is not warranted at this point.
