Possible Assistant Options

i don't want to switch to a WCO. way too complicated to learn....esp. from a verbiage standpoint. it's ridiculous. not a knock on cam, btw. i think he's bright. i just don't want complicated.

i would like for ramsdell to play a larger role. expanding his role to QB coach and having him work on the whole passing game would be great. i don't know about him for OC, but he could help a lot with the passing game and taking cam to another level.

dehaven as ST coach should be a no brainer.

aside from him, though, i'm not really excited about any of those options.

Agree on the WCO.  Wouldn't mind going E-P.

I figure we stay Coryell, but in the name of all that's holy please dump the read-option crap.

Honestly, I'd be pretty happy if we got Zampese.

EP wouldn't be bad. it wouldn't be much of a shift from coryell to it...not like it would be to WCO.

i've got mixed feelings on he read option. if we are to keep it, i would rather us have someone who knows how to coach it, use it, and who has success with it...as long as it is used sparingly.

were it up to me, we wouldn't necessarily use the read option, but the option to run would always be there. run a normal offense requiring cam to stay in the pocket, but then add in some designed runs and give him the freedom to take off when he feels it is the best option.

whatever we do, i want it aggressive and more interested in putting points on the board than eating up the clock. we have the potential to have a very dynamic offense and we put a ball and chain on it. this team needs to decide what it's identity is going to be and, in my opinion, as long as shula is running the offense and cam is under center, the identity of this offense wil be split and the ceiling will be low.

cam has much more value to this organization than shula in the short term and long term and we need to build the offense, both with personnel and schematically, around him.

I'd like to see the read-option used like the wildcat has been (i.e. occasionally, but definitely not as a focal point)

    • I wonder if the Hornets view Kon and McNeeley more as forwards and plan to ship off Green/Okogie/Smith for center help. I hope they don’t plan to ship off Sexton as I like what he brings to the team. (2) G - Ball, Mann, Simpson (two-way) (3) G - Sexton, Dinwiddie, Connaughton (3) F - Miller, Knueppel, McNeeley, James (two-way) (3) F - Bridges, Williams, Salaun (3) C - Diabate, Kalkbrenner, Plumlee
    • 3 main reasons he was better in 2023 and none of them concern me for his NFL prospects 1. Totally new coaching staff that was a massive downgrade and had god awful play calling and designs, the entire fan base was ready to run the coaching staff out of town a month into their first season and the play caller ended up getting changed because it was so bad. 2. Along with the staff downgrade, his QB played significantly worse after being the Pac 12 Freshman of the Year in 2023.  Constantly missed T-Mac when he was wide open, lost out on a number of TDs and a good amount of yardage, half the time T-Mac still almost made miraculous catches on the bad passes too. 3. He hurt his ankle over the summer and missed all of fall camp only to return to practice a few days before the season started and I think he had to deal with it all season long and was slightly limping at times mid season too, but kept fighting through it to still be a 1st team All American.
    • Good luck to Burns. He’s fine as a third pairing defensemen but Rod is too stubborn to do that.
