Julius Peppers

Don't really care. He's not Steve where he gave this org all that he had and got pushed out the door. He gave a few great years of his prime and then split. He had his chance in CHI, don't care about anything after that.  Would rather see the Packers or Broncos win than anyone else though...but Peppers has 0 to do with that.

89 could of stayed.

He opted not to by continuing to be a pain

Peppers has the raw freakish talent and ability and could totally dominate and take over a game. He just didn't have the motivation and fire to burn at it consistently. It is a huge shame as he is a huge man and could do so many ridiculous things. Luke is a freakish talent and a different type of game changer and dominator. He is extremely studiuous and has that it-factor/internal fire and motivation and he is a natural born leader. He has many intangibles that Pepp doesn't in terms of his mental game and internal drive. It would have been ridiculous if we could alter time and have them both on our defense in their prime together. But fwiw, LUUUUKE>>>>>>Peppers. Don't get me wrong, Peppers is great but Luke is potentially a HOF'er and is on another level entirely!

Actually opted in by offering to take a pay cut

No I think he said that after he was cut.  Something along the lines of "if they would have asked I would have considered a pay cut but they didn't ask."    Similar to how  Julius Peppers complained that we didn't make him an offer after he did everything in his power to not have to sign a long term deal.

Basically it  all comes down to how you view SS.

1.  A 35 year old WR.

2.  A 35 year old WR that makes 8+ a year

3.  A 35 year old WR that makes 8+ a year and is what some would call a locker room distraction

or

1.  A 35 year old WR.

2.  A 35 year old WR.that is probably still the teams best WR

3.  A 35 year old WR.that is probably still the teams best WR and emotional leader on the field.

Peppers is a huge piece for other teams to scheme for and plan.

Glad he is still playing at such a high level, that strip on Murray was huge for them.. he is in shape and playing in the coldest place to play in the NFL, its hard to question if he wants to play football. Sure looks like it.

Happy for him, people seem to forget how beastly he was at Carolina. I have a friend who says "oh if he played for carolina he must be good"

uh.... Peppers was a huge part of the defense here. He was the OG Watt, he caught TD passes... he blocked on goal line. Dude is awesome!

The opening day game @ TB where he blocked a FG, had an INT & took it to the house, nearly killed Chris Simms (literally- ruptured his spleen), then blocked a goddamn extra point that would've ended the game with 00:00 on the clock sending it to OT where Carolina won....

Most dominant game I've ever witnessed by a defensive player. He singlehandely beat the Bucs.

He really was the OG Watt. Except Peppers was more athletic than Watt could dream of being.
