Speculation on Richard Rodgers

Mr. Scot

I think that philosophy reflects Rivera's attitude.

For all his talk of aggressiveness when he first got here, he really does seem willing to settle for just being competent.

Yes this. It seems like this organization is satisfied with mediocrity. Even when we lost to the Seahawks it was like, "well we were fortunate to get a chance to play this great team in such a big game, we didn't actually expect to win but we were happy to get the opportunity." It's bullshit if you ask me.

The Panthers averaged 8 yards per punt return this season, good for 18th in the league the season after they did not re-sign Ted Ginn Jr. in free agency.

I wonder does this stat include Philly's fluke punt return TD? Because if it does we're probably more like 28th in the league.

Probably does.

Boy was that a shaky position this season :(

Does Gettleman talk about anyone in the past tense tommorow?

I hate to see guys get fired but it's part of the biz. I won't celebrate Shula's firing. I'll celebrate the new OCs hiring. If such a thing were to happen.

Is the presser tomorrow?

I haven't really seen anything about it.

Every time Seattle punted the other night I was wincing every time Bersin caught it, it's awful that simply catching the ball is now an achievement

I was holding my breath every time a ball was punted to us. I remember a few seasons ago (Adam "Pac Man" Jones I think) would catch 5 punts while holding on to each ball he previously caught so he would catch the 5th punt holding 4 other footballs in his arms. It was pretty impressive......and then there's Bersin.

Rodgers and Shula need to go.  Rivera made the case to me that he deserves to stick, the team believes in him.  That said, both are 2 of the worst at their positions in the NFL.  It's doubtful either will get a shot at those positions again in their career, that should tell you all you need to know about whether or not to keep them.
