Hardy's Heart is in Carolina

"Effective immediately, violations of the Personal Conduct Policy regarding assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault that involve physical force will be subject to a suspension without pay of six games for a first offense, with consideration given to mitigating factors, as well as a longer suspension when circumstances warrant. Among the circumstances that would merit a more severe penalty would be a prior incident before joining the NFL, or violence involving a weapon, choking, repeated striking, or when the act is committed against a pregnant woman or in the presence of a child. A second offense will result in banishment from the NFL;"

This is the NFL's new policy, verbatim. It doesn't mention convictions; it mentions first offenses. It also mentions weapon involvement or choking as being a special circumstance that could actually warrant longer than six games. So if someone can prove me wrong with a link that proves without a doubt that Hardy won't be suspended, I'm happy to read it and will gladly admit I'm wrong.

Hardy hasn't even been suspended yet. He's been getting paid. No time served, nothing. If you don't think the NFL can interpret rules in any way they choose to screw players, then you haven't been paying attention.

mitigating factors means a reduced charge,or no charge whatsoever.look, for the commish to say "let's move on"...if Hardy is not guilty.

Yea, this bs talk about him being greedy and in it for nothing but the money as if you people know him personally is a load of horse poo.  No one here knows what his goals and requirements are.  Yea, the guy talked a lot about getting paid.  Does that mean he's in it for nothing but the money?  That's fuging ridiculous.  He's a young kid that's about to make more money than likely the sum of all of us make in a year combined.  Of course he's excited about that.  If that rumored story about him turning down whatever sum was offered before the tag is true - and none of us know how much was offered, what the terms of the agreement were, or any details whatsoever - then it's just as likely it was as much a respect issue as a greed issue.  Or that there were terms included he didn't like.  Or something else we don't know.

A lot of you guys need to stop acting like you know these players personally.  All you know is what you interpret from what they put in the media.  It really irks me, and this "Hardy is all about the money so you know he won't resign here" bs is the same "fake smile" and "icon and entertainer" bs that was being said about Cam.  People interpret what they read on the internet and spin it in their head however they want it to fit their narrative, whether consciously or not.

We'll see how this plays out.  Maybe he's offered a reasonable contract (cuz no player of his caliber is going to play for peanuts) and he resigns.  Maybe he's offered a reasonable contract and he really is all about the money and goes somewhere else.  Maybe Gettleman is too worried about the PR backlash bullshit and doesn't even entertain making an offer.  Maybe he's actually guilty (though that one seems far fetched from what I've read, but I'm just as subject to my own interpretation spin as anyone else) and there's no chance the Panthers resign him.  All we know is that we don't know poo right now.

What do I reasonably hope for?  After he's found innocent, first and foremost I hope he sues the poo out of Holder for slander.  I don't imagine it'd be too hard to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the intent of her accusations were to harm is image, which is going to end up costing him money.  Then I'd like a reasonable contract offered to him, to the tune of what a top 5 DE would make per year, minus $13mil off the sum of the contract as a gesture of good faith on his part.  Using the tag number, that's $13 mil per year, for like 4 years that'd be $52 mil minus the 13 would be $39mil for 4 years.  If he were to do that, then all the garbage about him being selfish and greedy would have to go away.  Of course, there would need to be clauses like if he gets suspended or something then money could be recouped since there is a risk of more boneheaded decisions after this first boneheaded decision of his was such a whopper, but I think he's gonna have to expect that no matter who he signs with.

Need my "I want to believe" pic, but not the alien one.... the I cannt believe its butter one.

I want hardy back and not buying zods/bill/everyoned saying he's gone.

Dave believes in DL, so does RR and all the D coaches.

I want to believe hardy is coming back. People believe what they want too and this is a very rare time in which I holding hope on a return.

He should be gone once he gets a 12 per year offer along with 30 mill sign bonus....... I hold hope til then.

i will say this.... i dont follow Hardy on Twitter, so i have no idea how his demeanor has changed, if at all. But if after the court date, regardless of the outcome, if he shows humility and is showing that he is being more responsible with his life, i would give him a second chance with one condition: screw up one more time and you are done in Carolina immediately.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
