Am I the only one that thinks the Nate Chandler to OT should be put to death?

WOW!!

I thought I explained my position fairly well. He continues to be moved around because he hasn't had success at any position he has played. His coaches continue to try different positions because they see his physical talent and want to try to find a position where he can succeed. The problem is that position isn't on a football field and I think that's starting to become pretty clear.

LG, I believe you are mistaken. Nate being "moved around", was not due to his lack of success. Maybe you forgot about nates history, that should shed light on this. 2012 made the team and after about one month on the PS, he got the call(not bad for a UDFA). He was a fine backup form the 12 or so games. PS and backup status most times means you are a member of the scout team. Nate plays OL, matsko watches and makes a comment about " you can play OL if you wanted". 2013 daves arrives, his first signing was cole, drafts two DTs, plus wes horton. After a few weeks its clear as day, the DL is set. The staff likes nate and theres a opening at RG, so they have a talk and nate switches jerseys. Thats being a huge team player, it also showed nate wanted to remain a panther. Nate started a few games and was the best RG, even after scott came back form injuries.

2014 gross retires, cap hell and weak T class. Again nate takes on the giant task of filling a huge hole. Doesn't win the LT, but never the less is the starting RT. Now how you define success is up to you, I'll say he had success as a backup DT and RG........ but not as a RT. Nate did the panthers some HUGE favors during some dire times. Again, I ask you to name another player/s that have made the switch and got NFL snaps on both sides?

Why did Gettleman sign two DTs? Because we had a huge need there. Why is Gettleman dropping plenty of strong hints that OT needs to be addressed this offseason? Because we have a huge need there.

Chandler has physical talent but hasn't found success at any position and that's why he's been moved all over the place.

You're focused on the fact that he's played on both sides of the back in the NFL, but you're overlooking the fact that he hasn't done either effectively. I doubt he makes the roster this year and I doubt anyone else picks him up. Experiment over.

I mean, the dude is relatively new to the position in the pros. It isn't Chandler's fault that they evaluated him as being ready to start at RT.

He is a good athlete, but gets pushed around a lot. That means the strength isn't there or his lack of refined technique keeps him from playing with proper leverage.

Since he is still just 25, I would not give up on him yet. If the work ethic is there to get stronger...and we have a competent coaching staff to train him, he can still be a solid player.

I really just don't think he was ready for the position his coaches put him in this season.

So I am not supporting death for the young man. Geez.

This!!

Chandler's status going into the 2015 season will be bittersweet, no matter what course of action taken!

Is he starting material now? Hell no

Could he be starting material one day? Probably

If he is on the roster, god I hope we have two viable options ahead of him. If he isn't on the roster, then most likely someone will have an additional starting O lineman for the 2016 season. He needs to be a rotational player for a year and put in situations he can succeed in, once the confidence gets boosted the I think he will start catching on quickly

It's almost as if people have forgotten how truly awful he was before he got injured and Remmers took over. The only reason people are more hopeful for Chandler than Bell is because the memory of Chandler's sucking is a little more distant since he missed a good chunk if the latter portion of the season. In actuality, Bell is better as terrifying as that may be.

I need to pie you remind me when I get to my laptop.. People sit here and forget the many times.. Chandler wasn't just beaten but actually thrown at Cam..

No one is saying he didn't suck this year. That is obvious. Look at the big picture though. Dude just recently played on the D-line. I blame the coaches for starting such a raw player at RT, a year removed from playing on defense. His mobility and quickness are what make him a good prospect. He lacks strength and technique. Pretty simple. If he has the work ethic, he just needs time. Time is not what our coaching staff gave him.

I thought I read that Steve Smith Sr. was a Raven...gee's who can we rip on now?? hey Kalil was slow to make a block at the 4 minute mark at the Cincii game and started the whole down fall for a losing winning record.. damn.. Nate stood in when needed and I don't remember hearing his name as missing assignments like Bell..Yes Bell needs to be fired maybe 2nd string or on speed dial when injuries..happen...who's ur player next week??

I believe dave signed cole and resigned edwards cause both where cheap. Star was a dream and kk had a first round grade..... that's a very talented group. No question the OT needs a influx of talent and players. Last year i wanted to draft two OTs, this year is no different.

Again I agree he didn't have success as RT, but he DID have success as a backup DT and starting RG. He was moved cause there where dire needs at bare positions for the panthers.

I focused on the question, cause you havnt answered it. You don't want to or can not. Answering it would give a better understanding of the HUGE mountains nate has climbed over. Your mind is made up, but I offer a wager. For S and giggles, I'll bet nate makes the team and you take him getting cut. Bet is void if nate is injuried(for me) or gets less than 50 snaps (for you). On the line; huddle e-pride(lol)! do you agree to the terms? Or is this another question you can not answer?

Sometimes people don't climb over that Mountain...and I don't want to risk Cam doing a experiment. . Again some of you act like Chandler was just beaten by speed or technique wise.. Nooooooo Chandler was getting absolutely destroy and Manhandled... He was on his back more than his feet.. He look like he doesn't have the physical structure for the position. . At some point you have to realize (example Godfrey) that the guy can't play the position. . This isn't a simple problem like needing more technique for the position. . He plain doesn't have the man power and ability to hold up while being pushed. . You're not as a OT suppose to leave your feet a be thrown at a QB... That should be the 1st thing you should be able to not let happened as a OT..

Wow, I'm beyond in pressed with your expectations in nate...... nevermind that.

Honestly what where your expectations for nate form the start, 2014, 2013, and currently?

Please keep in mind he was a UDFA and done what few have. Or just dismiss all that and give your opinion, but compare it to other UFDAs.....
