But Cam made a promise. He vowed to his mother that he'd complete his education at Auburn, the university where he won a national championship in 2010. With the offseason upon us, Newton has returned to Auburn's campus to secure the necessary credits needed to earn his degree by this spring.

 

As you might expect, seeing one of the most famous players in the NFL acting like a normal person on campus has caused quite a stir amongst the student body. You just don't expect Cam Newton to be behind you when you're waiting to buy a grilled cheese.

More than anything I just want Cam to get fully healthy and be ready for camp. I hope the team looked him over and made sure he didn't need any maintenance surgeries.

I thought he was done.

 

I don't know how much school takes away from his time to progress as an NFL QB in the offseason, if any at all, but if it does then I'd rather he find a more appropriate time to finish. I respect him for wanting to finish his degree, but these first few offseasons might be the most important of his career.

Here is the thing about college, especially at an undergraduate level.  Class, assignments, and studying likely takes up less than 20% of your day.
