More Coaching Changes (Steve Wilks)

I've never understood why coordinators are so quick to leave for head coach openings. You would think that if they're successful in a system with a good team they would want some longevity and job security. Aren't the majority of new hires failures?

coaches are competitive guys too.

They want their opportunity to build a winner too.

Head Coaching contracts are guaranteed money. They can make more on a rookie head coaching contract than 10 years of coordinating. On top of that there are only so many jobs out there. You hear about guys declining to interview with dysfunctional franchises all the time but ultimately you have to take risks.

I see your point. Why ruin your name by taking a job with the Browns or Raiders? But these guys all think highly of themselves and the money is good.

True, I've never really looked at the difference in pay. I just know if I was at that level I would only care about winning. And I think our organization is on the cusp of greatness for the next 5-10 years.

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
