Speaking of speedy, undersized guys...

Randy Gregory weighed in at the Combine at only 235.

He ran a 4.57 in the 40. Dante Fowler was close to that at 4.61 but weighed in at 261 1/2.

Granted, there's time to add bulk, but on general principle how comfortable would you be with a 4-3 defensive end who weighed under 250?

Would you need to double a guy who's probably smaller than your tight end?

If he can be handled and taken care of by one guy every play why am I drafting him?

Perhaps as a passrush specialist on 3rd downs but im not investing a highpick in this guy and expecting him to be a 3 down DE.

What should I expect when the other team decides to run power to his side?

Agree. If he's setting the edge, I'm audibling a power sweep to his side and picking up at least 5 or 6 yards all day long

Dave Gettleman wants hog mollies.  Just look at the Giants' DEs during his time there.  Pretty much all of them had prototypical NFL 4-3 DE size.  So does Kony Ealy who he drafted in the 2nd round last year.  235 does not equal hog mollie.  That guy isn't playing DE.  He's gonna be a LB in the NFL, probably a 3-4 OLB.  If you can't hold up at the point of attack, Dave Gettleman doesn't want you.  Sucks about Greg Hardy's off field issues, because he's the perfect Gettleman DE.

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
    • Totally possible imo, I also caught that snippet from Morgan where he said “If” we sign him. The lack of competition says otherwise tho 🤷‍♂️
