I'll throw in the Wheel of Time book series. It's 13 books long so that's probably why they haven't done it. The author describes everything in great detail. Hollywood could probably shorten it by eliminating a lot of that.

I wish The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series had been turned into a television series. There was so much in those books, particularly the final two, that you cannot completely do them justice with a two hour film

I've always been disappointed that nobody ever adapted 'Pong' into a movie.

 

Wouldn't be shocked if Pong (looks like Arkanoid in the trailer 1:20s) isn't in this film somewhere.

From what I've read, Stephen King has been trying to get that going for years but it just hasn't happened.

Don't know if it's too big an undertaking or what.

I can tell you they are planning both movies and tv series.

How long we will have to continue to wait for them is still unknown though.

I always thought Raistlin was the best. Val Kilmer's Doc Holiday is the closest that I've seen that could pull it off.

There were some in Hollywood trying to get a Bioshock movie together. Keep your fingers crossed.

Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons... there was some talk that Bradley Cooper had interest in doing this, but these would be extremely difficult to make.

 

Old Man's War by John Scalzi is a prime candidate for a movie, and it was in the works, but got dropped.  I hear SyFy is looking at doing a series.

 

Kind of surprised the Mitch Rapp novels by Vince Flynn haven't had something done with them...  esp since Bourne was so successful and even Jack Reacher got a movie...
