Hakeem Nicks Visiting Soon

I was high on Nicks for a while but idk what the deal is, why not come home

He wants a lot more than he's worth. He'll sign on with someone but it'll be once he realizes he gotta take what he can get. That Indy year hurt the little bit of stock he had left.

I read an article recently talking about how Crabtree, Wayne, and Nicks were drawing little to no interest in free agency.  I think many teams are uninterested because the draft has cheaper talent with fewer question marks and more upside.

Wayne is essentially done.  Good career, but at his age, any attempt to land a one-year deal is an attempt to squeeze another million or so out of the league.  Crabtree has a reputation as an oft-injured, underwhelming head case with a negative attitude.  Nicks had Luck as his qb and could not post positive numbers?  He was playing against the AFC South (Houston, Jax, Tenn).  What does he need to succeed?

i am very confused by the lack of interest in Nicks. he will come cheap. he was one of the top WR in football a few years back. he is only 26. he is better than cotchery. nothing but upside, if he fails he gets cut.

We don't know what kind of conversations they had with him last year. But I agree with you, it seems like a natural fit here.

Good input dude. When Cotchery puts up seasons like

79-1052-11 and 76-1192-7 then I'll buy your sarcastic cotchery comparisons. Also Nicks is 6 years younger than Cotchery.

Only an absolute MORON would think Cotchery is better than Nicks.

I still can't believe Cotchery dropped that fuging pass against the Bengals that would have won us the game. Cam threw as good as a pass as he'll ever throw that play and Cotchery fuging dropped it in the endzone. I bet Steve Smith would have made that catch.

Oh sure.

i mean he almost matched Jerricho Cotchery's numbers from last year.

Something else old man for you to chew on - Nicks and Cotchery have the EXACT number of receiving touchdowns in their career. Nicks is 27, Cotch is 32.

    • The only other position group I could think of is ILB since Dan was there for Rodriguez and Hill Jr. pro days in Texas. It’s one of the reasons I get the feeling ILB could be the pick at 19.
    • Nobody is saying we don't need it, just that we have bigger needs elsewhere, and that type of WR is actually something that is often found in the mid rounds, you just have to scout and evaluate properly. Here's another way of looking at why WR in the 1st shouldn't even be considered an option. Looking only at players currently on the team, what position group would you feel strongest about 4 years from now? I'm not sure there is a better answer there than WR, as you have to think T-Mac is our best player on the team in 4 years (Brown is the only current player I think there is even an argument to be made over T-Mac there), with Coker not far behind. Our OL is too old to be considered, my opinions on Bryce is well known, Hubbard will be done by then and the rest of the RB is an unknown, Off-ball LB is maybe our biggest need, we only have 1 legit safety, it's certainly not TE, and our 2nd best CB right now will be 33 by then.   Brown should still be a beast as he'll only be 31, but nobody else on the DL projects to be that good in 4 years.  Edge rusher with Phillips, Scourton, and Princely is probably the only other possible answer than WR. So yes, that fast/shifty type of WR is 100% a need of ours, but we have so many other bigger needs both in the immediate and future, that to me, taking a WR in the 1st for the 3rd year in a row and having hit on another WR in the same time frame, just makes zero sense both currently and looking into the future.
    • Laughing at Slayton (Mooney or Calvin Austin III), but telling me that Coker is the next best thing since sliced bread...You laughing at Theo Johnson in reference to our guys too? LOL No one in their right mind thinks Nabers is anything but a stud (definitely top 10 if not 5 potential). You do realize that Thomas was in a new system with a furst-time coach last year (with a questionable QB to boot)? And yet still, it's possible that he eclipses even T-mac (not saying that he will). They didn't even mention Travis Hunter. In any event, we're not in the top half. Draft another legit receiver, and we will be.
