I know everyone is joking about this signing carrying us to the "Superb Owl", but it really is these types of signings that can put a team in that position. You have to truly play well in all phases of this game, negating positive returns on PR/KRs can really help win a game. STs can really turn a game. (For good or bad)

Your right just ask the Patriots. We need to fix special teams and signing a bunch of free agents with special teams experience means more competition in training camp which will make us better. I wouldn't be surprised if we sign a few more guys for special teams like the linebacker from San Diego.

what does this guy have that Stephen Hill doesn't? I mean special teams...you run down the field as fast as you can and try to get the guy to call for a fair catch and if he doesn't, you tackle the guy.

maybe there is reverse logic going on here. DBacks are receivers that can't catch...maybe WRs are DBacks that can't tackle? hmmmm

Because Hill doesn't have special teams experience. Gettleman must see something in the kid. I don't know if it's just for special teams or if he sees him competing for the nickle back role. He didn't play college football and played some WR in the NFL before jointing the Jags so he was pretty raw and may just be getting at the point where he can do something in the NFL.

    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
    • I basically made almost the exact predictions on a phone call with a buddy about 3 weeks ago. I really do expect Evero gone before the seasons end, Young to just not able to get over the hump enough and DC to head into next season on a VERY hot seat.
