9 year olds birthday party question

My oldest daughter is going to a 9 year olds birthday party.

My wife doesn't want to go, period. I don't really care either way.

There are two things neither one of us want to do.

1: Take the 4 year old boy and 22 month old girl. There is no possible way of that happening.

2: Neither of us want to stay for the duration of the party.

So the big question is, can we poke our head in and drop her off for the party? Or do we have to stay there with her the whole time?

The party is supposed to be from noon to 4pm.

You have to stay as long as your kid stays. Perfectly fine to tell the parents you have to duck out and go somewhere and leave early.

I am alright with it for the most part.

My wife acts like she has such bad anxiety and I am on call for work.

I was also worried it would be inappropriate for me to be the only dad there, it's a girls birthday party. I am a soldier on an army post and I am worried I will be surrounded by tons of army wives.

It's a birthday party I think you're over thinking it. Go and stay as long as you can. Just explain to your daughter and the parents that you may have to duck out early.

Play man to man d with your kids. You take one and wife takes the other. On your way if you take the older one set the expectation you will stay for a little while.

A good 90 mins is all you need. You exit strategy is you want some one on one time with your kid. Which should be true.

I bring my kids to parties I don't want to be at on purpose. After an hour or so I make them act fussy and that's my excuse to bail.
