Panthers talk to Greg Jennings

Remember that we currently have 4 mil in cap space and may not be able to match what he wants to be paid this year. He had a 7 mil cap hit last year, and 5 mil in 2013.

Maybe we can talk him into a 2 year deal where he only counts 2 or less against the cap in 2015, and maybe 4-5 in 2016. If not then it may just end up as a visit and that's all.

The cowboys only had 5 mil and signed Hardy to a 1 year deal. There are ways to work around it

If I recall correctly, we have 11 million, but we want to keep a cushion of around 7 million.

Should there be a need, other moves could be made to clear cap space.

Hope it doesn't take us out of the deep WR class

The idea is to plug holes so that we can take whoever is the best player available.

That would still include the possibility of a receiver.

Pertinent line...

Jennings, who was released by the Vikings earlier this month, has received interest from multiple teams, and he’s expected to take time to weigh his options.

Also pertinent...

At 6-feet, 195 pounds, Jennings doesn’t have blazing speed, but he has great hands and runs pinpoint routes. He’s played both outside and in the slot during his career, and he could be a solid mentor for the Panthers’ young receiving corps. Plus, now that two waves of free agency have come and gone, general manager Dave Gettleman could likely land Jennings at a good value.
